Into The Gloss

“I don’t think I ever really knew what I wanted to do, but I’ve tried everything. In college, I did eight internships across real estate, government, and fashion PR. That experimentation led me to where I am now as a creator, which feels right because it taps into both my creative and business sides. But I never imagined this career path—my only clue was watching Ugly Betty as a teenager and knowing I wanted to be in a big city like New York, or at the very least, not in the Midwest.

When I met my partner, Taylor Fritz, I was working in influencer marketing. I had no idea he was a big tennis star. Once we started dating, I realized what his life was like—all the travel, the intensity of his tours—and I was excited to join him. I also knew I’d get labeled a WAG, and to be honest, I had an idea in my head of what that meant and it wasn’t the most positive connotation. But once I was on tour, I met all these incredible women who were finishing degrees, building careers, starting nonprofits, all while traveling with their partners. It changed how I saw it. At the same time, I was still working corporate PST hours—often from Asia or Australia—which meant 3AM Zoom calls in a bathtub while Taylor slept before a match. [Laughs]

No one else on tour was really doing content, but that was my world, so I started sharing more of my life. Over the past few years, the ‘career WAG’ has exploded. For me it’s about asking: When you’re given this bizarre life, how do you make the most of it? When I first started posting—my match-day outfits, the travel, behind-the-scenes of tournaments—I didn’t expect to expand tennis’ fanbase. But now, so many young girls come up to me to say they knew nothing about tennis two years ago and got hooked after watching one of my videos. The fact that my content became a gateway into genuine love for the sport? Amazing.

SKINCARE
I’ve always dealt with acne, and the only thing that helps is PanOxyl’s 10% benzoyl peroxide cleanser. I use it every morning and night, but at night, I start off with my Tatcha cleansing oil and then I always dry off with a Clean Skin Club towel. Especially since I stay in so many hotels and don’t know what kind of detergent they’re using, I like that there's no potential for irritation with these.

After cleansing, I do a layer of PCA’s hydrating toner. Since I’m always on planes with dry air, hydration is the biggest focus of my routine. I try to layer as much as I can, so I apply the SkinCeuticals B5 gel after my C E Ferulic, which has already made my skin look so much brighter after only three months of use. I also use Sunday Riley’s Good Genes. I’ve tried retinoids and tretinoin and they were too harsh on my skin, but lactic acid gives me the exfoliation I need without drying me out.

During the day, I like Tatcha’s Dewy Milk moisturizer, and at night, I like Weleda’s Skin Food after my serums. Skin Food is fantastic for my dry skin. If I’ve just traveled, I’ll put it on super thick, almost like a mask. For my eyes, I’ve been using Ole Henriksen’s Banana Bright for years. It really gives me an instant brightening. My undereyes also get really dry, which can make my makeup crease, but I never have that problem when I wear this one. If I’m feeling extra dry, I’ll pat on a couple of Biossance vitamin C oil drops all over my face to seal in everything.

I’ve always been good about sun protection because my mom drilled it into my brain. Don’t get me wrong, I still had a tanning bed phase in high school, but that’s a rite of passage for every Midwestern girl. Right now, I’m loving Belif’s Aqua Bomb sunscreen. It’s SPF 45 but also makes my skin look so glowy and glassy. It also sits really well under makeup, and that’s been tough with some sunscreens. The Summer Fridays ShadeDrops are really good under makeup, too.

As for the extras, my wallet hates me for this, but I use a Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin face mask five times a week. I’ll cleanse, use this, and then go into the rest of my skincare. When I have the time to get a facial, I’ll see one of the girls at Joanna Vargas in LA and get a lifting and sculpting treatment. I also do microneedling with PRP, which has made a huge difference in my skin’s texture and pore size—I go to Orange Twist because they have locations all over the country.

I get Botox in my forehead every four to five months with Dr. William Harris. I actually started getting it in my sophomore year of college because I did musical theater and debate, so I was always very expressive. By the time I was 19, I had lines on my forehead that my foundation would settle into—I have photos from college where I look five years older than I do right now. It was a big insecurity of mine. I would complain about it all the time until my mom took me to her girl as my Christmas present when I was 20. On the other hand, I got lip filler sort of impulsively in 2021 when I joined a friend on her appointment. I’ve always liked the shape of my lips, but it was nice to add a tiny bit of volume.

WELLNESS
My brain’s all over the place if I don’t work out consistently, so I try to be active at least six times a week. I like to work out first thing in the morning—I lay out my clothes the night before so I can just get dressed in the morning and go. I like classes where there’s loud music and I can’t think about anything else except for what I’m doing. I try to lift at Barry’s three times a week, and I’ll do Pilates at Megaformer the other days.

I didn’t like the idea of blindly taking a bunch of vitamins, so a little while back I went to my doctor for a full blood panel. Turns out, I had low levels of vitamin B and D. I got Cymbiotika’s Vitamin B12 + B6 and D3 + K2 + CoQ10. They’re liquid supplements, so I take 12 squirts of them with my water every morning. I add Armra colostrum to the mix, too, but honestly, I’m not sure what difference, if any, I’ve seen. That’s sort of the game with the vitamins. Like, has my skin gotten amazing? I don’t know. Has my life gotten better? I don’t know. But when I did another blood panel, my levels were normal so I guess they’re doing their job. I have actually seen a difference since starting Clearstem’s Mindbodyskin hormonal acne supplement—I break out less. And then I take the women’s multivitamin and probiotics from Ritual. They have a minty flavor so when you take it you don’t get that weird vitamin aftertaste.

If I’m not feeling great, I’ll go to Next Health for IV vitamin drips. That’s mostly when I’ve had a really long trip home. I started getting NAD with them too. That’s been a big investment. I don’t think I’ve done it enough times to see a big difference, but I’ve asked enough people in the medical field about it and they’ve encouraged me to continue.

Above all else I like to relax. I like massages where they kind of just pet you. [Laughs] I love going to The Now because they play ocean sounds during your treatment. But when I’m home, I like to book a 6PM massage on Fridays. I’ll come home, get really comfortable and cozy, order food, and watch a movie.

MAKEUP
I like having glowy body skin, and I like my face to match. I start out with a few drops of Westman Atelier’s Liquid Super Loaded Highlight in Golden Hour Bronze on my cheeks and the high points of my face. Products like that can break me out sometimes, but this one doesn’t. Then I do a very light layer of the Armani Luminous Silk foundation in 3.5 so you can still see the glow underneath.

Since I have dry under eyes, I need a relatively hydrating concealer. I always go back to Ilia’s. I have four bottles of it in my little makeup drawer. The interesting thing about the shade I use, Chicory SC1, is that even if I’m super tan or a little more pale in the winter, it still works for me. After that I have a whole contour routine. I went to the South of France with Dior Beauty this summer. Kelli Anne Sewell did my makeup with Dior’s 24H Skin Contour Stick there and I was so impressed by how bronzed and sculpted it made me. I’d been using more of a grayish contour, but I love this one in Tan* now to contour my cheeks and forehead. For my nose, I like Victoria Beckham’s Contour Stylus because it’s super skinny. Then I love the Westman Atelier Contour Stick in Truffle on my chin because it’s more cool-toned than the others and gives me more of a shadow.

I get my brows laminated and my lashes tinted and laminated in Brentwood every two months or so. But then I still wear mascara, specifically tubing formulas because other formulas get flaky or settle on the top of my eyes. Thrive makes my favorite—I’ll pair that with a brown winged eye using Dior’s liquid liner in Satin Brown. Sometimes I’ll bring up my Dior contour stick to my eyelids, but Half Magic also makes these sparkly eye sticks that are so easy to use; you can blend them out with your fingers.

My lip collection is probably the biggest part of my makeup collection because that’s the one area where I feel comfortable experimenting. I love stains. Huda Beauty’s is not a peel off, but it stays on your lips for a while. Soft Nude and Baby Pink are my go-tos. Her Faux Filler oils are also amazing with their super glossy finish—I have Peach. Somehow, Fenty’s Gloss Bombs are even glossier. I probably have 30 tubes of Hot Cherry—it’s the one I make every girl try if I’m in a club bathroom or something. I’m like, ‘Put it on right now.’ [Laughs]

As a finishing touch, if I need a little extra bronze, I dust Chanel’s bronzing cream in Tan Medium Bronze over the full look. That’s before I spray my face with One/Size’s setting spray. I was introduced to it last summer when I was in Ibiza with a group of girlfriends. My friend Sophie said I had to try it, and I remember one morning we got back at 8AM, and my makeup didn’t budge after I jumped in the pool. I’ve been a diehard since.

HAIR
Abby Shofner colors my hair every six months, but beyond that, I always do my hair. I use Kerastase’s Chroma Absolu shampoo and Genesis conditioner, and the Genesis hair serum is great for hydration, too. I’ll use some of Oribe’s Invisible Defense hair spray before blowing it out and styling it with the Dyson Airwrap—I have a US Dyson, an Australian Dyson, and a European Dyson—sorry to my wallet.

FRAGRANCE
I lean toward unisex, warm, and cozy perfumes. Bibliotheque from Byredo is very in line with that. I’m also obsessed with 12:00 from Noyz—I get so many compliments when I wear it. Lost + Found from Noyz is another good one. They also have solid perfumes that I like to carry in my purse. Oh, and Glossier You has been a go-to for a long time.

When it comes to my home, I like woodsy and laundry detergent scents. [Laughs] I love the Xtra Milk room and linen spray from Dedcool. And I always have candles burning. Right now, I’m loving Nette’s Spring 1988 and Diptyque’s Baies. I even travel with a candle to make the hotel rooms feel a little more like home.”
