Dear ITG,

Pride is incredibly special to me. Other than it being a large part of my family and upbringing—my mother is lesbian and my father is gay—Pride represents all-encompassing love and equality. And this year, the NYC Pride Rally was simply perfect. After the Supreme Court's ruling, you could see the overwhelming relief and joy in everyone's smiles. The ruling was so long overdue, and the happiness I feel for the community is overwhelming. Many of these people have lived much of their lives being told that they were not equal. If anything, I just became happier and happier as the day went on—the love on the streets only grew, and it was so amazing seeing the crowd rise up more and more in support.

For my makeup, I didn't want to go too over the top, so I decided to just do my eyeshadow in a spectrum to represent equality and the L.G.B.T. flag. It's always fun when you get to experiment with makeup and try something new. I started by applying blue eyeshadow on my top eyelid, accentuated by purple eyeliner on the lash line—smoked out to a wing. On my crease and up to my brow bone, I applied eyeshadow with all the colors of the flag in reverse-rainbow order. I found a lot of examples on Pinterest, so it was pretty easy to get inspired. The best part, though, is that you can add your own flair to it!

This is a cause and a community I think everyone should be supporting—not just the individuals who are immediately affected by it. Pride is about loving who you are and being who you want to be at all costs. I think everyone can learn from and be inspired by the people I was surrounded by on Sunday. The parade was an incredible example of strength, individuality, dignity, and most importantly...LOVE!
