"Hey everyone! My name is Marie-William (@marie_william), and I’m from Montreal, Canada. I am currently a fashion consultant and sales associate at La Maison Simons, one of the biggest retailers in Canada. A few years ago, I also graduated as a hairdresser. As I was working in the field of beauty, I began treating my skin as the most precious thing I owned. I would say that at that point, I began to really understand the importance of taking care of myself.
I think that beauty can be a representation of what inspires each of us. Nature inspires me a lot, so I like brands that use things like vegetable bases and essential oils. I like beauty that is not overly complicated, that’s light and natural, and—most importantly—timeless. I do always try to opt for quality over quantity, too.
I start every day by drinking a shot of wheat grass. This calms my seasonal allergies in addition to getting me my vitamins. After a quick shower, I cleanse my face with the Blue Herbal Acne Cleanser Treaments by Kiehl’s. It is the only cleanser that consistently prevents adult acne flare-ups without drying out my skin. My personal trick is to rinse my face with icy water after cleansing—when I do this, my skin feels much clearer and my pores look diminished. After that, I immediately apply Aesop’s Lucent Facial Concentrate, which balances and repairs my skin and does not leave an oily finish. I let it penetrate for a while, and I finish with Kate Somerville’s Oil-Free Moisturizer. My hydration routine is CRUCIAL—which is why I also drink at least 3 liters of water a day.
After I’ve camouflaged imperfections and blemishes with the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in Chantilly, I’ll use a light layer of the Dior Addict It-Lash, the only mascara that does not run or dry my eyes, and that stays on all day. Then I add a little Bobbi Brown Blush in Pale Pink, and a touch of the Chanel Rough Allure Velvet in La Fascinante on the lips. I finish with my fragrance—Lilac Path by Aerin. It’s perfect for when I’m missing summer.
At the end of the day, I remove all of my makeup with Bioderma and then exfoliate with Biologique Recherche’s P50 Lotion. I apply Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate Serum mixed with The Ordinary’s 2 % Salicylic Acid Solution—that’s my little secret. It helps keep acne under control. And finally, nothing is better than a hot bath with my favorite Fresh Life Bath & Shower Gel at the end of the day. I always light up a Jo Malone Basil & Neroli Candle before I get in.
My hair is simple. I use The Kerastase Resistance Line for everything—the mask, shampoo and the wonderful leave-in cream that repairs my dried-out tips without adding any weight. Sometimes, I alternate with Klorane’s Nettle Shampoo to balance my scalp. I love getting my nails done, but since I’m intolerant to the UV lights that are in nail machines, shellac is now a no-no for me. I do them myself! I recently rediscovered Essie’s nail polishes—Russian Roulette is a good red. Bold and classic at the same time."
