How To Become An Eye Makeup Expert, Without The Skill

The term "smoky eye" is a fun and sexy term for just throwing different makeup products on your eyes, rubbing it around, and hitting the club. Is it crazy to say that makeup of the eyes is categorically the most difficult makeup to master, besides maybe those contour kits that just look like concealer palettes? Even at Glossier HQ—an office literally full of beauty professionals—the word "eyeshadow quad" provokes some light anxiety.

Fear not, friends. There are two ways to educate yourself:

1) Unearth that Naked palette you bought on sale two years ago (and quickly depleted that one shade of brown you like) and an eyeshadow brush, park yourself in front of Youtube for the forseeable future, and get to work. Or:
2) Call an expert like Wendy Rowe and host an Eye Makeup Master Class with some of your eye makeup-uninclined coworkers. Eyes are kind of Wendy's thing—and in the above video, she schools a small group of beauty professionals on all the basics. That includes, but is not limited to; contouring, shadowing, and, yes, going full smoke. Class is in session!

Video shot by Tom Newton and edited by Will Kitchings. Wendy uses Burberry Effortless Contouring Pen in Medium, Kevyn Aucoin Essential Eyeshadow Set in 1,Burberry Effortless Blendable Kohl in Chestnut Brown, Kevyn Aucoin Pencil Eyeliner in Basic Black, Nars Velvet Shadow Stick in Flibuste, and Burberry Eye Color Cream in Pearl Grey.
