"Everything with Ganni has happened so quickly, I'm trying to enjoy it all. It started back in 2007 when I was working as a fashion buyer. It wasn't a million dollar plan or anything—Ganni used to be owned by a friend of mine who was a gallery owner, and he asked me if I wanted to work on it. I was like, 'Sure! Why not?' I'd been a buyer for so many years, I thought, why not try something new?
HEALTH
I really love my work, but I also love my life. We are very lucky here in Denmark, it's a very good work and life balance. I’m trying to hold onto everything right now and be happy about that. I'm riding my bike home every day, and I'm still going out and dancing, even though I'm pregnant. I'm eating normal, healthy, organic food, but I'm also eating pasta. I don't think anybody should push themselves to not eat any carbs or sugars—I think your quality of life suffers. Maybe you'll get thinner, but I don't think it's worth it.
As far as treatments, I get acupuncture around my ears—I'm pregnant, I'm sick all the time, and it helps with nausea. And because you have all these needles in you, relaxing is the only thing you can do. The woman would leave me there for an hour, and then come back and ask, 'Do you want more time?' I'd just lay there and really unwind.
SKINCARE
I’m taking very good care of my skin, too. I'm a sucker for products, which you can probably tell from all of the stuff I have. But it's all stuff that works—I like to use things that I can see working. Right now I'm using a lot of products from Ling. I was buying all of these different things, and I got a little eczema, and my doctor told me to stick to one brand. My routine is simple... cleanser, serum, day cream, sunscreen. I use the Ling Purifying Facial Cleanser because it's really light, and then I use their Hi-Vitamin C 12% or the Oxygen Plasma Glow. Sometimes though, if I'm really dry, I mix it up with a Rudolph Skincare Oil. My sunscreen is Lumixyl Moisturelock Sunscreen. I also use Ling Eye Cream, but that's a little boring. [Laughs]
Then I'll try to do a scrub once or twice a week. If I don't, you can tell—I'll be getting my makeup done and the makeup artist will be like, 'What happened to you?' I haven't had time to exfoliate. I try to use the Ling Imperial Scrub, and I also like the Glossier Mega Greens Galaxy Mask. When I take that off, it's like having a new face. I only have one problem with a lot of skincare, which is if they use too much perfume, so I try to avoid that. I had a big box from Chanel, and I was so excited to try everything. Then I put it on and I almost started crying. My eyes are just too sensitive.
MAKEUP
I always wear foundation—Youngblood Liquid Mineral Foundation is really cool. I just tried to Hourglass one, but that didn't work for me, it was too much of a mask. But the Youngblood is really good because it has a little bit of shine to it, and it gives a little glow. Then I'll use blush, either MAC or Tom Ford or Tromborg, which is a Danish brand. I like peachy blushes. I used to wear one that was reddish, but someone told me because I have red pigments in my skin, it was too much. So now I like more brown, peachy, dusty, like Tromborg Peach or Vintage. If my skin looks really bad, I'll use a finishing powder from Tom Ford. I don't wear lipstick very often... I think my lips are too small. For me, it's really the complexion that's important.
Normally I don't wear eye makeup. Seven years ago I suddenly got this droopy eye—my pupil suddenly got bigger and it just changed my face. So if I put on eye makeup, it's too much. I just brush up my eyebrows with L'Oréal Brow Fix, it's very easy to use. I'm not an expert, everything I use should just be easy.
HAIR
I cut my hair yesterday because I thought it was too long. Sometimes I'll do it myself, or sometimes I'll shuffle around [between hairdressers]—I'm not too picky. We used Cim [Mahony] for the Ganni show, and he told me to come see him if I wanted to do something different with my haircut. I just get it colored. It would be great if I didn't have to color it, but I do, because it's so boring. But dyeing it gives it texture. I've never had to use a blowdryer to get texture—if I did, my hair would be like hay. Sometimes I'll just use Clarins Tonic Body Balm on the ends.
My shampoo and conditioner is the best ever. I use Rudolph Care Blossom Shampoo and Conditioner with rosehip and raspberry. It's the way it cleanses my hair without being too... you know. A lot of hair products are so smelly, but the scent of this is so light. And I can use the conditioner like a mask. If my hair is dry, I just put in a lot, but it doesn't get too heavy. When I go out, I'll just use classic Elnett. Even though it kind of smells."
