They’re heeeerrreee!
We were so excited about them that we announced it a week early. Now The Supers have landed, so we can finally give them a proper introduction. There’s three of them—a lot of product to get to know. So settle in and let’s talk about serum and why your skin could use some.
Like we said last week, the serum market is...complicated. Instagrammer @em.hk said it best, commenting, “Ohhhh @glossier how did you know that I’ve had 10 tabs open on my computer for the past 3 weeks researching serums and trying to decide which one(s) to get.” We’ve been there, too. Because serums can be confusing. And pricey—a product category that almost universally required a day off from work to go to the dermatologist, maybe a facialist, and the fanciest skincare counter you could find just to make sense of it all. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
The fact is, you can cleanse, tone, and moisturize all you want, but sometimes your skin needs an extra little boost. It’s a big world out there, with plenty of factors conspiring against your complexion. Factors including but not limited to: your jet-set lifestyle; office happy hour-turned-big night out; your impending period; your renewed commitment to sexy SoulCycle thanks to Ariana Grande’s “Side to Side” music video. When things start to make you feel a little out of balance—maybe you’re drier than usual, or your skin feels stressed out—that’s when a serum comes into play. Like that packet of Emergen-C you keep in the bottom of your bag, just in case.
Supplements were actually the main source of inspiration when developing the Supers—last Fall, a bunch of you weighed in on the vitamins you’ve been taking and why. It proved to be very helpful! Each Super serum has two hero ingredients, meant to work in the most targeted way to solve whatever is ailing you at the moment. And when that changes? Pick a new Super. Your options are...
Super Bounce, with hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5: For when you’re feeling particularly dry—winter is coming, people!—or any time your skin needs additional hydration. Hyaluronic acid and vitamin B5 are a moisturizing one-two humectant punch, the former holding up to 1000 times its weight in water and the latter helping to regenerate new skin layers that are softer and more supple. It’s Gatorade, for your face. Drink up.
Super Pure, with Niacinamide and Zinc: Equal parts soothing, calming, and purifying, Super Pure is best employed on irritated, stressed, or blemish-prone skin—and it becomes especially useful when your face is suffering from stress, hormones, or the occasional greasy food item. Having good skin and eating dollar pizza should not be mutually exclusive.
Super Glow, with vitamin C and magnesium: Remember last December, when you drank to excess at your company holiday party (which was scheduled, inexplicably, on a Tuesday night), only to be expected at your desk at 9AM the next day? This is for that—when your skin feels dull or sallow, and strategically-placed highlighter won’t do the job. Also good for free radical protection, hyperpigmentation, and collagen production. The only thing it won’t do is cure hangovers. Sorry, we tried.
Three serums for every phase of your skin—because you contain multitudes, and so should your skincare. Collect ‘em all and leave your reviews below.
Love as always,
Us
