NEW YORK, NY — An anonymous source has revealed to Into The Gloss that Biafine, the topical French burn cream that Elle Macpherson uses to moisturize, may not be on shelves for much longer.
Our source was shopping at Thompson Street Chemists, a storied pharmacy in Soho and one of the only stateside sellers of Biafine, when a store employee revealed that their last Biafine shipment had just arrived: "This is our last order from Biafine–the company is shutting down [or something]. I’m not sure what happened, but it's something, because we can’t get it anymore."
The news prompts speculation (among Into The Gloss' four-person team) that Biapharm SAS, the Biafine producer that was acquired by Johnson and Johnson in 2004, may be in hot water—or at least ceasing any and all US distribution. No word on whether any products in the Biafine range will be discontinued, or if this is indicative of a larger company problem.
ITG has reached out to Johnson and Johnson in the interim. If you have any information, please provide it below. Elle Macpherson thanks you for your compliance.
