The New Drugstore Foundation Heavyhitter

I remember seeing the commercials: Karlie Kloss in a Heidi braid whispering, "Tap tap, tap tap." The announcement of the year is that the cushion compact has gone mass (thanks, L'Oréal!) like we knew it would. It's great news that gets even better when I tell you that L'Oréal's True Match Lumi Cushion is actually better than most of what's already out there.

First of all, accessibility. This guy is $16 at Target, Duane Reade, Walgreens, CVS, your supermarket, and Drugstore.com. I think this more than makes up for the fact that at the drugstore, you can't try out your shade first. Buy the wrong one, and it's a relatively low-impact mistake. (If you're swimming in time, it might be worthwhile to go to your nearest beauty counter and try the Lancôme Miracle Cushion out first. You didn't hear it from me, but the Lumi is a very excellent dupe in both the coverage and color categories.)

Secondly, nothing about this product feels particularly drugstore beyond the fact that it can be purchased there. The coverage is custom and dewy in a way that very few comparably-priced foundations are. I'll say it again—it's a casual purchase for a very non-casual looking face. Very Edita in St. Bart's. It's all sorts of glorious.
