'My name is pronounced Kayleigh— it's Gaelic for a type of party where people sing and dance. I'm not actually Irish, though. I’m Korean. My mom’s from Seoul and my dad is from England. It's my name because my dad said he wanted people to remember me...and I think people usually do. Hopefully for other reasons, as well.

When I moved to New York two years ago I was working on the sales floor at Opening Ceremony, but I actually didn’t know anything about fashion at all. In the interview I took a lot of lines from the A$AP Rocky song ‘Fashion Killa’ and kind of just spat those at them and then got hired. I moved to Beacon’s Closet pretty recently, as a vintage buyer, but I want to act, which is something I was really embarrassed to admit for a while. I was just in a music video, actually, and I was also in Glossier's Boy Brow campaign. It's really funny that Glossier chose me for a brow campaign because I used to hate my eyebrows. I have my dad’s brows and I love my dad, so maybe I should be proud of that, but I feel like they don’t come in close enough. I know that the look is to have like thick, really intense eyebrows, I don’t feel like my eye brows are thick enough but whatever. It just makes me feel funny.

My daily skin routine is nothing too crazy...I like to put witch hazel on my face, and I use Rosebud Salve for almost everything. I have been getting into the habit of doing that Tyra Banks thing where she puts Vaseline on her eyes and her mouth. It definitely keeps things a little bit more soft. I also use this Weleda Almond Face Cream from Whole Foods…It's pink and it makes your skin really soft. Hopefully my routine includes a shower—I like to shower.

Makeup didn’t used to matter to me. As long as I had my eyeliner right, I left my face kind of blank. For coverage the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint is the lightest, so that's really nice. Otherwise, I’ve always been a drugstore makeup girl...but I also like Benefit Magic Ink Liquid Liner. That stuff is awesome. And then I like Maybelline Lash Stiletto and then Stiletto Liner…it’s good because it's pretty reasonably priced and I use a lot of it, so it goes fast. I was recently shot for a red eye makeup story for Nylon and I was just really inspired by it. I thought it looked very regal. I tried some blushes on my lids—I tried Nars, that didn’t work too well either, but I went back and got an Estée Lauder Lipstick in a reddish pink. That with black or blue eyeliner is what I'm wearing these days.

My nails are always painted. I don’t think there has ever been a moment since I turned 16 where I had unpainted nails. I like nudes, but red is my usual color, red, navy, or black—right now though, I’m a big fan of Essie Ballet Slippers. It depends on my mood. I naturally have really long nails even after a year of acrylics. I do love acrylics...there’s something about them. But if I have to suggest anything I would say silk wrap, because it's a lot healthier. Acrylics will mess you up.”
