'My name is Beatrice Valenzuela [@beatricevalenzuela] and I live in Echo Park, Los Angeles. For work, I design and make shoes, bags, and jewelry—I get to create things that I want to wear. The best thing about running my own business is that I get to choose my own hours, which means time to take trips with my little ones and my partner. We love to camp and explore California on the weekends—the beach, mountains, forests, lakes and deserts. I also started the Echo Park Craft Fair, which is a biannual market where makers can sell their goods to our community. We sell everything from fashion and beauty products to cacti.

My aunts used to sell beauty products to their friends when I was a kid—they taught me how to do facials when I was 10 years old. I would go with them to their beauty parties and hear all about the benefits of royal jelly, and the wonders of a good mask, eye cream, and moisturizer. I'd put my head on my aunt's lap and she'd tone and moisturize my face. I started doing a little scrub a few times a week...pampering myself is still a priority in my day to day because of that. My showers are sacred to me. I start with washing my hair twice with Leonor Greyl Shampooing Au Miel and then I condition with Oribe Gold Lust Transformative Masque, which I'll leave in. I wash and exfoliate with Tata Harper's Regenerating Cleanser and a terrycloth towel, scrubbing very gently. I wash my body with a natural sponge and L'Occitane Ultra Rich Hand & Body Wash. Then I carefully shave my legs with my Kalon Studios Walnut Razor—it's a perfect fit in my hand and beautiful on my bathroom shelf. I rinse out almost all of the conditioner but I leave in a bit which helps with frizz.

I towel dry my hair a little bit, but not all the way, and use Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream with a pump of Shu Uemura Absolue Nourishing Protective Oil. I'll run my fingers through it but I try not to touch it too much. The more I touch it, the frizzier it'll get. Once it's completely dry then I scrunch it a bit with my hands to make it wild. I spray my face with Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence and apply Tata Harper Rejuvenating Serum, Rebuilding Moisturizer, and Restorative Eye Cream. On my body I use Joyous Organic Shea Butter and their Delightful Deodorant, which is the best I've found.

In the summer I spend a lot of time in the sun, so I have all kinds of SPFs—my favorites are Sun Bum SPF 50 for the body and La Roche-Posay Anthelios SPF 50 for the face. Alba Botanica makes a Kukui Nut Body Cream that keeps my tan intact. I wear sandals year-round here in California, so at night I use Joyous Organics Joyful Dreams Foot Balm for my cracked heels. My lips get very dry, so I like to exfoliate them with Joyous Organics Espresso Sugar Scrub...It's yummy and perfect in fall. My routine changes seasonally, but my perfume is always Summer by Dasein. People go crazy for it, it smells like a cocktail.

If I'm going out or seeing a girlfriend, I make sure to put on lipstick—something pink or fuschia. Make Up For Ever Aqua Lip Pencil 16c is matte and doesn't move at all. I also love the Nars Audacious lipstick line, especially Angela and Claudia. I'll do a little Nars Bronzer in Laguna on my lids, Nars Orgasm on my cheeks and Nars Highlighting Blush above my cheekbones. I've been growing out my eyebrows using the tips from Kristie Streicher's Eyebrow Rehab, so I just do a little clear MAC Brow Finisher, and I fill in any gaps with Maybelline Eyestudio Brow Define and Fill Duo in Soft Brown. I'll add a light coat of Tom Ford Extreme Mascara in Raven on the lashes and keep a fresh face. When applying mascara, I like to start at the base and gently rock sideways back and forth as I pull the wand through my lashes. This separates them perfectly while coating them...they look twice as long.

When I am feeling down and need to be re-energized I go to Natura Korean Spa and get a body scrub. It's very stimulating and leaves my skin looking radiant. I used to dance, so I've always been mindful to take good care of my hands and feet—my favorite manicure and pedicure is from Olive & June in Pasadena, and I've been using RGB Polish in Beach latelyfor both hands and feet. It's nude and blends well with my skin tone. For hair, I make the trip from the east side and get a great cut and color and highlights at Ramirez Tran about four times a year.

I like to include my children, Astrid and Dimitri, into my routine. They have their own products too! They take baths together. I like to throw in some Fresh Rice Sake Bath Soak or Fig and Yarrow Floral Bath Milk. Then after their bath they rub in their own Joyous Organics Shea Butter. It's more for fun than need—they already have soft skin. When I relax, I light one of my candles. Then I'll get a hot bath going with Outremer Violette Bubble Bath, and I'll pour myself a glass of crémant or Champagne. Then I'll listen to my romance series, Outlander, on Audible.”
