The word comeback is a big one in fashion (also: everywhere else). You've got your Gemma Wards, your Vivien Solaris, your Jessica Millers, and even your Giseles, who retire and then still pop their heads up from time to time for magazine cover shoots. There's got to be something said for the strategic drop-off in appearance...even if it's not so strategic. Maybe they went back to school, maybe they only wanted to walk for designers they had close relationships with, maybe they weren't feeling well that season...people lead non-fashion-world related lives, too!

We wouldn't call Grace Bol's last season a comeback so much as a resurgence. She never really left; she's been there all along, booking little editorials and minor runways here and there, just nothing as big as some ITG photographers would like to see. But last September, Grace showed up in all the right places, starting at NYFW in Proenza Schouler and continuing at Balenciaga and Hermés in Paris. People were calling it a “breakthrough,” but if you've been following Grace's career, it was more like “Finally,” Looks like she's going to be very busy, very soon. Bless her for having time to stop by ITG HQ for a chat about makeup.

'I’m starting to use lipsticks more. I tried a pink recently, and I was like, ‘Oh!’ I liked it! I like dark purple, too—burgundy and rich reds work for me. It kind of looks natural on me—like my nude. And my lips look really big sometimes, so you don’t want them to be orange—that’s good for smaller lips. I also like to play with color on my eyelids. I think when you mix colors with with black for a smoky eye, that's nice. The craziest colors I’ve ever done was a hot pink lip from Nars and then blue on my eyes,”
