As hot as it might be in your shoebox apartment, where your three-speed stand fan is parked less than a foot from your bedside, you can't sleep naked every night. There are a few inconvenient bits of life that will prevent that, like your roommates being around when you need to run to the kitchen to refill your water bottle at 11:42pm (it's hot, and you're going to be thirsty). But that obstacle aside, some people believe that you'll actually stay cooler by wearing clothing. It's a tough call—the nights when this difference matters are already so sweltering in NYC that it's pretty difficult to distinguish one scenario from the other. Sweaty is sweaty, so you can simplify this entire situation (and look cute, too) by settling on some quality summer sleepwear. No, not a band T-shirt. No, not that threadbare tank top and a pair of equally worn-in boxers. Sleep. Wear. Sleepwear—here are some options:
Eberjey Carina Racerback Teddy : When done right, a teddy is appealing because it's barely there but far from being tight. There's a low elasticized waist, which is flattering, but you'll still get great ventilation and all the benefits of delicate lace covering every possible centimeter of its perimeter.
Sleepy Jones Marina Short Sleeve Pajama Shirt and Paloma Pajama Short : We should all be grateful for vertical stripes—they're the most flattering stripe of the whole genre, and here they help slim down a short-sleeve set. Because, hey, sometimes you want to be able to roll out of bed and walk to the mailbox in your pajamas.
The Sleep Shirt Royal Oxford Pintucked Cotton Pajama Top and Shorts : This classic set is a little bit country, a tiny bit preppy, and really, really comfortable thanks to its 100-percent cotton makeup.
Morgan Lane Arielle Nightgown : Did we all collectively forget about nightgowns, or was that just me? Pretty, easy-to-wear, and passable as a dress if need be. It's time to revisit the slip.
Olivia Von Halle Bella Dove Grey Silk Sleep Set : Minimal and vaguely '90s—your playbook will suddenly be filled with silver linings in this luxurious bias-cut set. Here's to Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, and great pajamas, man.
