As appealing as it sounds to go purseless and run around with keys, a credit card, and maybe a lip balm in your pocket, most women's jeans were just not made for that sort of thing. And if you're being honest with yourself, don't you need a couple more things to get through the day? Maybe some hand sanitizer, a Kind bar, some light subway reading...As such, here are five bags that are soft but structured—a little more LL Bean tote (ah, summer) in shape and a little less Céline trapeze.
Alfie Douglas Medium Backpack: Handmade in the UK, this line uses leather that's stiff to start but softens with use (sort of similar to that of Mansur Gavriel—they’d be on this list too, by the way, but they’re pretty backordered).
Clare V Simple Tote: A good option for those that need to lug around textbooks, laptops, and tablets—it comes with top handles, though you'll want the shoulder strap, too.
Kara Classic Backpack: Compact but with plenty of usable space, this one looks good worn on the back or slung over a shoulder.
COS Foldover Leather Tote: If you’re not already familiar with Swedish brand COS, take a moment to look around its newly-available US site—it's a trove of pieces with clean lines, like this bag that looks good full or not, as the top folds over when empty.
Everlane The Petra Market Tote: Soft leather and a flash of hardware at the strap are nice, but selling point of this bag is all that glorious room inside. A Gloffice favorite because, you know, we have stuff to carry. Like dogs.
