What do Condoleezza Rice and Mila Kunis have in common?

This is not the set up for a really good joke with a satisfying punch line. It’s something better—an introduction to their shared facialist, Mashell Tabe. Based in Albuquerque, New Mexico (and now New York!), and often referred to as a miracle worker, her supremely hydrating vitamin facials have restored a long list of well-known faces. And now, with some handy tips, they can restore your winter-ravaged visage to something much more comfortable.

Alexi Ashe Meyers (a prosecutor in Brooklyn and wife of Seth) met Mashell while home in New Mexico and “loved her instantly,” Ashe recalls. “My skin is always so dry when I’m home,” something I can attest to, hailing from Albuquerque myself. Not so after one of Mashell’s facials. “She is so calming and has an aura of peacefulness— I always leave her studio feeling revitalized inside and out. I feel like she’s taken years of wear and damage off of my face,”

Mashell’s brilliance is her underlying philosophy. The key to maintaining good skin is the same as getting (and keeping) six-pack abs: consistency. Which is why a DIY regimen is essential if you can’t make it in for treatments as regularly as going to the gym (who can, really?). Mashell's steps are simple so there's really no excuse for complaining about your dry, flaky skin this season. Follow these steps:

  1. “Cleanse your face and décolleté with your preferred cleanser. I recommend Environ C-Quence Cleanser for a gentle cleanser for sensitive skin. Often my clients neglect to nourish the décolleté and this is one of the first areas to show signs of aging. Even before your face,”

  2. “Exfoliate the top layer of skin—this is what causes that lackluster winter look. Again, treat your face and décolleté. For this step I recommend the Environ C-Quence Energizing Masque or Murad’s Pomegranate Mask. You will see revitalization almost immediately. This prepares the skin for better absorption of nutrients, vitamins, and hydration,”

  3. “After you've successfully sloughed off that unwanted dead skin, let’s replenish it! I recommend Clinical Resolutions Peptide Aqua Gel Mask. This mask is extremely nourishing and hydrating and your skin will love you for it,”

  4. “It’s impossible to over-hydrate during the winter. Once you remove the mask, apply Environ Focus Hydrating Serum for the best results. Then Environ Intensive Hydrating Oil Capsules—they are truly the best way to infuse moisture! Keep a bottle of Avène Thermal Spring Water on you at all times—you really can’t overuse it. It will soothe and hydrate you all day,”
