Days-long bike rides are pretty much the only reason you’d ever attach a pannier to your fixie. But way before that, panniers referred to the puffed-up hoop skirts worn by Marie Antoinette, Maria Carolina of Austria, and now Jennifer Lawrence. Not only is this a shape being revisted 300 some years later, but we’re still talking about how good Lawrence’s Dior dress looks 72 hours later. Seems like this is a situation with staying power.
