Our pal—who happens to also be the go-to NYC colorist for all things blond—Aura Friedman sent an email last week with a pretty enticing subject line: “Charlotte Carey Makeover.” You may have noticed that we're already fans of the ice-blond model, so we were intrigued. Even more so were the inspiration images attached—they were going to go bloody, firey red. More info and photos were promptly requested.

Said Aura: “This hair color was definitely a way of breaking from the 'platinum model' genre, but also just to have fun. Charlotte's Paris agency was sort of pushing her to change it, too, and we all agreed that red was best because we wanted to keep her bold. Going back to brown would be too boring, this color very much fits her personality—it sets her apart. It's definitely going to fade, but there's this product— Nexxus Pre-Wash Primer—that I'm really excited about. You put two pumps in your hand and mush it around before you jump in the shower. It repels water, which causes color to fade and all kinds of build-up. But I love how fiery the red is right now—and the bleached brows we did really bring out that kind of 'alien pixie' look that we love.”
