Rihanna’s Viva Glam collection for MAC was launched last week, and, like all good things Rihanna—concerts, lipsticks, skateboard decks—it will inevitably sell out. We were barely able to procure a single tube of the long-unavailable RiRi for our growing staff (we’re now a proud family of ten *tears *), and the lipstick is so cherished that it's kept perched on a shelf—for Gloffice use only. But that leaves us S.O.L. when we're O.O.O. And what about everyone else?
Well, necessity's the mother of invention, and apparently there's a secret code amongst those in the know for how to make your own crimson velvet lip by mixing three beauty products that you very well may already own—and if not, are surely more readily available than RiRi Woo. Start with the lipstick that catalyzed the chaos: MAC's classic Ruby Woo, which in and of itself is perfect in every possible way—just a little too yellow to be RiRi. So, deepen that brick red with the blue-undertoned Tom Ford Cherry Lush. Together, the two colors create the exact shade of Bad Gal red. Then, to get the matte, tattooed-on-your-lips RiRi finish you're going to need some translucent powder. Tap Make Up For Ever HD Powder on top, et voilà. Maybe a few more products to tote around on a night out, but girl's gotta do...
