Like The Met Gala, But Affordable

1

There’s absolutely nothing cheap about the Met Gala. Doesn’t matter if you’re looking at it from a party planning perspective or as an attendee, everything about the shebang costs big money—it’s the price to pay to dine in the company of a Monet. Gala veterans will tell you that the journey up to the big day is no short of a major operation. There are fittings, and beauty trial runs, and mood boards to address every detail. You think Ezra Miller woke up Monday morning with the brilliant idea of wearing five more eyes? No! These looks take time! And time is money.

So, Into The Gloss imagined how we could make a few of our favorite (and most wearable) looks of the night more affordable. Emphasis on wearable—yes, Billy Porter hit it out of the park, but please seek professional assistance if you want to look the same. But enough of that now, let’s get to the good stuff.

Yara Shahidi

The look: A sequined eye shaped in Yara’s astrological sign (she’s an Aquarius).
What she used: Prada crystals! And loose glitter.
What you can use: Swarovski crystals glued on with lash adhesive. Bonus points if you shaped the crystals to match your astrological sign (good luck, Cancer). Cost: $8.

Sophie Turner

The look: Golden hair.
What she used: Wella Sculpt Force mixed with gold glitter (styled by Christian Woods).
What you can use: Combine Squizz Moco De Gorila Snott Hair Gel (an Into The Gloss favorite) and loose glitter. Comb through your hair and you’re good to go. Cost: $7.

Gigi Hadid

The look: Spiky, white eyelashes
What she used: Unclear! Makeup artist Erin Parsons ambiguously credited Maybelline on Instagram (both Erin and Gigi are Maybelline ambassadors), but Maybelline doesn’t make white eyelashes. Is it part of an upcoming launch? Perhaps...
What you can use: A fake set of white eyelashes. Divide and cut the strips into three or four smaller sections so the lashes can better fit your eye. Cost: $13.

Awkwafina

The look: Textured, yellow gold eyes.
What she used: Surratt Beauty’s Artistique Eyeshadow and golden sequins.
What you can use: First, a swipe of NYX Glitter Goals Liquid Eyeshadow will deliver an all-over gold. Then tap Glossier’s Glitter Geelée in Glass Bonsai on top, just under the brow bone and in the inner corner of the eye. Cost: $22.
