Here's the thing about summer: No matter how much you complain about wearing makeup in the heat, you will probably still wear makeup in the heat. (A straw poll of editors in this office said the same.) There is almost no net-negative outcome that will dissuede you from just a little top-off (i.e. "Wow! I’m so glad the pencil I used on my brows this morning is now outlining my lips instead—my look is much improved!") Regardless, any face-melt situation is more palateable than when all the ice cubes in your oat milk latte have turned to water on your 5-minute coffee dash from your air conditioned day space, so carry on. Since you are an unstoppable force of nature, much like our collective nemesis The Sun, here are a few product reviews for your scrolling pleasure, seasonally appropriate or not. They've been put to good use by the masterful hand of makeup artist Shayna Gold on Eliza Fairbanks’ lovely face. Tom took photos so they’re preserved here just a bit longer. Enjoy!

“For the first look, I used Marc Jacobs Highliner to carve out the crease in the color Lollipop. It’s like a pearlescent magenta with kind of blue pearl. I used that for the crease, and then on the eyelid, I paired it with Troy Surratt’s Lid Lacquer in Kira Kira, which is a white pearl that has a pink sparkle, so it kind of tied in with the pink in the crease. On the cheeks I used Bite’s Multistick in Mochi, which is a very matte, dry cream blush that you can use on eyes, cheeks, and lips. I didn’t want to use anything too shimmery, since the eyes already have a wet, glittery finish.”

“On the eyes I used the Make Up Forever Aqua XL Color Paint in M-40—it’s like a mustard-y yellow. I just kind of swiped it around with a brush. On the cheeks, I used Chanel Palette Essentielle in 190 Eclat Solar. I used the gold as her highlight, and the red as just a hint of blush, smudged around. I filled in the brows with Anastasia Dark Brown Brow Wiz, and then on the lips I used the YSL Tint-in-Oil in No. 7. It’s a little orange, so it gives a kind of honey-stained lip.”

“Starting with the Giorgio Armani Smooth Silk Eye Pencil in No. 7, which is a really soft jade green, I just kind of shaped out a round wing, and brought it in with some blending from my finger. These are really nice and blendable, that’s why they’re my favorite. On the lips, I used Marc Jacobs’ new Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick in Uh Huh Honey. For her lashes, I did kind of like a spidery lash with the Givenchy Deep Black Phenomen'Eyes Mascara—the one with the spiky ball.”

“For this look, I used the Armani Eye Tint in No. 3, which is like a pearly seafoam mint blue. I used it all over and under the eye and just blended it out for a soft mermaid kind of eye. I paired that with mascara, Dior’s Pump’n’Volume Mascara in Black. In her waterline, I used Armani’s Smooth Silk Eye Pencil in No. 12. On her lips, I paired this blue with a coral to complement the green and the turquoise, and used YSL’s Tint in Oil in No. 6.”

“We used Black Cherry Baby Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick from Marc Jacobs for a chocolate-y, deep lip that still feels kind of sheer. For the eyes, I just bared it with concealer and again used the Givenchy mascara to give her a little bit of a spidered lash. Just another easy, doable look.”

"Using Surratt's Lid Lacquer in Shikkoku and Marc Jacobs shadow brush, I loosely swiped across the lid with no intentional placement except to reach the lash line. I followed with some finger smudging and let the heat from her lids do the rest."
