"I grew up in a town called Coral Springs, Florida. I was kind of a punk. I grew up going to punk shows, and that was sort of what I was obsessed with. I worked at Blockbuster Video, which is still to date my favorite job I've ever had, because all I had to do was watch movies and chew bubblegum all day—I had the keys to the big bubblegum thing. I went to NYU for film school because I'm obsessed with movies. I've always been really hands-on, too, so the hands-on aspect of jewelry making [was appealing]. In South Florida, everyone was very corny and traditional. The idea of jewelry was like, a diamond tennis bracelet, or, you know, a heart. I remember hating it, and wanting to come up with things that were weird, or challenging the idea of what jewelry could be, what adornment could be. Something that actually told you who someone was, as opposed to telling you that they were the same as everybody else.

At this point, I definitely think the aesthetic has evolved—I grew up a lot, and my tastes have changed. As a result, the aesthetics of the brand have changed. I think that that's really challenging as a brand, because people know you for one thing, and at some point you'll be ready to do something else—but other people are not necessarily ready for you to change. It's been an interesting challenge. We've grown a lot. Winning the CFDA Award was a big deal for me. I also worked on a project for Hillary Clinton, which was amazing. I get to work with some extremely amazing designers to collaborate on some really cool projects, and that's always such an honor.

BEAUTY
[My beauty routine] is not minimal! I think it started in my late-20s, early-30s. Before then, I was one of those people who wore a lot of makeup, a lot of eyeliner... I would pass out after a party and wake up in the morning with my eyeliner still on. Raccoon eyes. That was fine for however many years, and then it wasn't fine anymore. You have to take care of yourself!

SKINCARE
Externally, I'm a total skincare junkie. I love to try new things, and I don't have particularly sensitive skin, so I'll kind of try everything. My cabinet is a little crazy. But I'm really loyal to Joanna Vargas products and Dr. Barbara Sturm, and also this line called JustBe. I use Dr. Sturm's Cleanser, and her Hyaluronic Serum. I have never had a facial from her before, but I did get the infamous Blood Cream. In the morning, I wash my face with the cleanser, which is just really clean and simple. It doesn't make me break out. I feel like there's a lot of extra stuff that's unnecessary in everybody's products, and hers doesn't feel that way to me. Then I'll usually do the Joanna Vargas Super Nova Serum or Rejuvenating Serum. The Super Nova Serum has retinol in it, so I don't use it as frequently, because retinol makes me peel. Then I use the Blood Cream. It totally did change my skin, my pores are smaller…it's pretty great. When you start using it, people will immediately stop you and be like, 'What happened to your face? Why are you aging backwards?'

Skinceuticals CE Ferulic is a really good product. Especially for hydrating, if you're one of those people like me who doesn't always drink enough water. And then their Hydrating B5 Gel is good, too. You can see the lift. For masks, I love the Glossier Galaxy Pack and Moon Mask. Oh, and the Joanna Vargas Exfoliating Mask. I'll do that in the shower once a week. Every two weeks I'll use the Clarisonic. I don't feel like I need it more than that, but it does help sometimes. I like the Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip with the Clarisonic for some reason. I like Sunday Riley products a lot. I also just like products. I like beauty products the way I think some people like clothes.

My lips get really dry, so I'm obsessed with this thing from Linne Botanicals. It's so good. It's a thick balm you can use everywhere, but I love it on my lips. On my body, I'm obsessed with Monk Oil. We actually carry this on our website. They're just different blends of skin oil—I use the Dawn City Skin Potion and this is the original City Skin Potion. And they all have like, a rose quartz crystal inside of them. I'll lather my body up with that.

HAIR
My hair's really dry so I'll use some kind of oil or serum. I don't want to sound gross, but I wash my hair like once a week, or once every other week, but I condition it every day. I have to. Right now I'm using this Shu Uemura Ultimate Remedy Shampoo. It's great, I'm almost out. The conditioner I'm using is from Sans Ceuticals. I like the Sans Ceuticals pH + Shine Corrector, which just smooths the hair. All of the Kerastase products for wavy or curly hair are amazing. Oribe stuff is good for volume, and it's good if you're not gonna wash your hair every day. The Dry Shampoo's amazing, and if you need more texture, I'm obsessed with the Dry Thickening one. It just gives you a little more volume. I really like Powder Puff from Kevin Murphy, too. It's like a dry shampoo, but it's good for curly hair. It has a smiley face on it—Kevin Murphy's packaging is super happy.

MAKEUP
Glossier Skin Tint is so important. When I wear foundation, I wear that. I don't always wear foundation—I think skincare is really the most important foundation you can have, but there are obviously times where you need more. I used to be all about the Giorgio Armani Foundation before my skincare routine got better and my skin got better. It's really a good coverage. But now that I don't need so much coverage, this is perfect. And then I use Glossier Boy Brow in Brown. I tweezed the hell out of my brows as a teenager in Miami until they were like, a line. I have a really small face so it's fine, but I do wish they were a little thicker. I tried all the different serums to make them grow. I always look at those girls with the strong brows [and get jealous]. Next, I use Glossier Haloscope in Topaz, then blend it in.

The mascara I'm using now is Super Sizer Fibers from Covergirl. Honestly, I just buy a different mascara every time I go to Duane Reade. I'm always just like, 'What seems fun?' Mascara's one of those things to me that you don't have to spend a lot of money on. The best ones are usually really cheap, weirdly. When I first started my brand, I was one of those girls who had like, eight pounds of mascara on, and a dark lipstick, and the whole thing. Now I think my entire aesthetic shifted, but really, I just don't have time. I don't care to look perfect every day. When I have somewhere to be, there'll be a contour and a blush, and the Haloscope. I recently discovered the Winky Lux stuff that turns pink on your lips. It's so cheesy—and they have flowers in them. I actually stole it from one of my employees! I was like, 'Can I try this?' and she was like, 'Sure.' And afterwards, I was like, 'Oh, I forgot, I'm sick.' And she was like, 'You can keep that.' [Laughs] Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk is a very important part of my routine as well. I lost the cap, and then found it the other day and was like, 'I need to remember to put this back on,' but now I don't remember where I put the cap. [Laughs]

For eyes I actually lost my favorite eye compact, and I'm pretty upset about it. It was this Vincent Longo palette of browns. I have green eyes, so brownish-red is the best color, and that palette had the most perfect, perfect one. Now they have it at Duane Reade. I hope it's still there. In the meantime, I'm using Bark by MAC [ed note: discontinued] which has been my go-to for years. I don't like black, except mascara.

NAILS
When you're working with jewelry, nail polish just disappears in two seconds. I got gel nails done for so long that my actual nails became like paper. Not every place you go to is really good at taking them off the right way. I'm in a process now of trying to grow them out—I just threw some nail polish on them yesterday to try to look semi-normal, but they're already completely chipped. There's also this crazy acrylic powder manicure you can get that's really thick and strong, and it stays on for like a month. But I think there's a sort of ritual about getting your nails done. When you're working as much as I'm working, sometimes you just need a break from the day where it feels like you're being pampered a little bit. I think the manicure is a nice break, but, you know, you have to be really careful about where you go. That New York Times article was so scary—I have my regular spots that I go to, that I've been going to forever. There's one by my office that I go to called Serenity Spa-it's on 27th Street. And then in Williamsburg I go to Prim and Polish.

BODY
Massages are important to me, acupuncture I go in and out of. I really like this place over here by my house called Pure Qi. It's amazing, it's like secretly infamous. They're just so good, and it's really affordable, and they really know their stuff. Negin who owns JustBe does Thai Yoga Massage, so I'll go to her for Thai Yoga Massage. I was working out four to five days a week, but I'm taking a little hiatus from working out. I'm just gonna see how bad my body can get. [Laughs] No, sometimes you do need to take those little breaks, when you're at the point where you're like, 'I can't.' I got really into boxing a few years ago, and I was doing boxing three to four times a week, and then doing some other form of cardio. I go to Mendez Boxing Gym by my office, my trainer is Ro. I try to do yoga, or breathing exercises. I have a little spot downstairs where I sit. I have what are supposed to be meditation pillows, but they hold my MacBook. I think that I could do a better job of focusing on meditation and exercise recently, but I don't know, it's so cold! I went on a trip to Arizona recently and did a lot of yoga and meditating, and that was really nice. That sort of reinvigorated me. It reminded me that I need to focus on that emotional self-care, too."
