"Hi! My name is Lynn Kostelny (@lynnkostelny) and I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the East Passyunk neighborhood. I am Urban Outfitters’ Global Marketing Manager–I oversee the social media team in North America, and am currently working to build one out in London. In everything–my job, clothes, beauty–my philosophy is to do what feels good. Everyone has different sets of priorities and a unique outlook overall. For me that means taking the time before and after work to put my phone down and pamper myself. When I’ve had a long day, I like to do a face mask, hair mask, and foot mask all at the same time, while I watch Real Housewives with a glass of wine.
The first thing I can remember about beauty was finding some self-tanner in my mother’s Avon pile one day, and going for it. The results were not ideal–I ruined my favorite 'Mrs. Timberlake' tank top—but I felt fabulous, and eventually I became obsessed with beauty products. I'm constantly trying new things, but for a while I was so frequently changing up my routine with different serums and exfoliating peels that I wasn’t sure what things my skin did and didn’t like. Now I’ve settled on a pretty consistent skincare routine. In the morning it’s Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser, Biologique Recherche P50 1970, Dr. Jart’s Ceramidin and sunscreen. At night, I’ll add in Ole Henriksen’s Truth Serum before moisturizing. In case anyone is still wondering if Biologique Recherche will live up to the hype, it will. On my 26th birthday I treated myself to a facial at Rescue Spa and bought the P50 1970. My hormonal acne is almost non-existent and my skin has never looked better.
After I’m done moisturizing I’ll use the Nars Radiance Primer and Bare Minerals Complexion Gel Cream, which is the ultimate combination for dewy-looking skin. Then, because my eyelashes are straight and blonde I really need one that curls and adds color without being too clumpy–Trish McEvoy High Volume Mascara is it, and it stays put in spite of my greasy eyelids. For a natural brow look, I’ll use Glossier Boy Brow in Brown, and when I’m going for something more defined, I’ll use the Anastasia Brow Wiz. My blush is Glossier’s Cloud Paint in Dusk. I use it on the hollows of my cheeks and the outside corners of my forehead, and then a few dots of Beam on the apples of my cheeks. They make my skin look so healthy! But I think many of us can agree that highlighter is the best product ever and I will never use less than three layered together for as long as I live. I love Benefit Watt’s Up for the perfect golden glow, Nars Copacabana for when you want your highlight to be seen from across the street, RMS Living Luminizer for a wet glow that looks natural, and the Becca Liquid Highlighter in Moonstone for just a little more staying power than the RMS. I’ll finish my look with a spritz of the Urban Decay All-Nighter setting spray, which is a must for keeping the many layers of highlighter from sliding off.
I still love exploring in Sephora and investing in good skincare and makeup. I don’t wear eyeliner because I feel like it looks insane on me, but I am really wanting to get more into eyeshadow–I just ordered a bunch of colors from Colourpop, so I can’t wait to try them! My relationship with lipstick is a little strained because I don’t like to wear a strong lip, but sometimes natural feels boring, so I started applying lipstick like a stain by dabbing it on with my finger. My friend told me about that. It’s not revolutionary but it was a game-changer for me!"
