Covering 'beauty' backstage is a pretty specific thing: the mascara, the lip color, how they're combing the hair, what's going on with the nails...but sometimes (most of the time), the real beauty is in the casting.
At Lacoste this morning there wasn't really any hair or makeup—they left everyone with an 'un-coiffed' center part (perfected with Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Conditioner run through dry ends) and very natural makeup (just some MAC concealer). The story wasn't any of that though. It was all the faces. Lacoste is one of those special shows at NYFW that combines their men's and women's collections. Typically, the big men's shows are in Milan. Here all the guys were though, and totally free for photos—male models still don't have much of a frenzy around them, unless you're Lucky Blue. They deserve some frenzy—particularly for some of the little quirks you notice when the styling is toned down. The eyebrow sprouts, for instance. Sometimes they're almost monobrows actually.
Anyway, male models: always a great source of unexpected inspiration.
