'All I need for a good night is beer, good friends, and music—really chill vibes. I just moved into my own place on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, so every Friday night I get all my girlfriends together and go watch the sunset. We have rosé or something, and it's such a good way to start the night off. There’s just something about the summertime when you all just feel like you can connect again.
In Sydney, we actually have a lot of daytime parties. The sun sets so late that we end up starting earlier and finish earlier, which I love because then I get heaps of sleep and wake up and go surfing in the morning. Now that I live right on the beach, I end up going surfing like four times a day. One time I was in New York for Fashion Week, and it was totally the opposite. You go out to dinner at 10pm, then you go out after that, and before you know it, it's morning. It was a wild week of my life, and I could probably never do it again. [Laughs]
Right now we're at The Surf Lodge in Montauk, and it's so beautiful. It doesn’t even feel like I’m in New York or anywhere near it. It actually feels like Australia—there are cool bars and pubs that feel pretty homey. I've seen some really amazing music performed by Donavon Frankenreiter and had some really, really good seafood. Everyone’s just been hanging out together and having some summer cocktails. When I go out, I don't drink a lot, but I love a vodka water with some Hydralyte in it. I know it sounds weird—it's an electrolyte powder that tastes sort of like Emergen-C. When I'm in America, I just end up using Emergen-C because then you feel great the next day. I wake up and I’m like, ‘Oh wow, I killed it.’ You still have a really fun night, but it's better because there's no hangover. It’s so athlete of me, but it gives it a really good taste, too.
For beauty, I keep things really natural and glow-y. I usually only use brown eyeliners and eyeshadows. I also really like the Estée Lauder Perfectionist Youth-Infusing Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 25—it's light and feels amazing. They also make a nice BB cream that I use during the day, but at night I like a little more coverage. I also use their Double Wear Stay-In-Place High Cover Concealer SPF 35 in 3C Medium. Then I use Boots No. 7 Lash Impact Mascara in Black and the Covergirl Brow & Eye Makers pencil to line my eyes and lightly fill in my brows.
One weird thing I have is this Doterra Elevation Joyful Blend. It's just essential oils that smell super hippie, but it makes me feel really happy. I don’t know if it's like a mental thing, but you put it on and it totally gives you a bit of a lift. I put it on when I’m going out and use Tom Ford Black Orchid, too, so I have the full hippie smell—my little Joyful Blend and then Tom Ford on top.
You can't go wrong with eye drops either. I get really red eyes sometimes. You’ll be going out, and the bouncers will be like, 'What have you been doing? Your eyes are so red,' and I’m like, ‘No, I swear they’re just sunburnt!' I’ve tried a lot of eye drops but Clear Eyes is the best.
For my lips I use Lucas' Papaw Ointment, which is good for everything—even any sort of blemish, cut, burn, splinters, insect bites... Blistex Intensive Repair Lip Balm is good if I’ve been in the sun and my lips are burned. That’s got SPF 15, too. Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream is also very nice to use at night. I’ve usually got an Ella Baché Great 50+ Lipsaver on me—it's like lip gloss, but it stays on in the water. It’s all over Australia, but you’ll see it duty-free when you’re traveling because it’s getting bigger. It's the only thing that's stopped me from getting blisters on my lips when I'm in the water in places like Fiji or Indonesia.
Today the John Frieda team put some curls in my hair, but it naturally dries pretty straight. It's pretty chill, but it also gets flat, so I try and give it some volume—I love bigger hair. When I was 13 or 14 years old, the whole front around my face was like a frizz ball from surfing, and I just had to chop it off. Now I always use a leave-in conditioner after every surf. It’s funny because I can’t just leave my hair salty after a surf—I have to shower because I can’t deal with it feeling crusty from actual ocean water. But then I wash it and use John Frieda's Beach Blonde Sea Waves Sea Salt Spray...so I feel like reverse-styling it.”
