'Tonight I'm DJing two different parties—an early one in the garden at Ladurée and something a little later at The Standard, High Line. I've only started doing things like that since I came to New York. My friend Alix Brown was DJing at the Soho Grand Hotel, and I went there a few times, but they found me online and asked me if I want to try it out.

I like old music a lot—mostly rock 'n' roll. A lot of the songs I play are from the '60s, '70s, and '80s. I stick to older stuff, but I mix it in with newer things as well. It kind of depends on what it is. For a dance party, I like to play a lot of disco. There isn’t enough disco in New York. Happy Ending always has a really great dance party, and then new things open up all the time. A friend of mine opened this place called Elvis Guesthouse. It’s a cool little place where a lot of my friends go and play shows. They throw dance parties, too, but it’s in-between a dive bar and more of a cocktail lounge.

I keep my makeup to a minimum during the day. But at night, I’ll do more shadow. My inspiration comes from Helmut Newton photographs and Guy Bourdin makeup. I like smoky browns and grays and a little mixing up of things. I feel like it goes well with my green eye color. First, I do this sandy color in Maybelline New York Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Hushed Tints 30. I like to mix together two Chanel Illusion d'Ombre Long Wear Luminous Eyeshadows in Mirage and Mirifique and put it over top, followed by some eyeliner. I really like Chanel's Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-lasting Eyeliner in Santal. I line the top and bottom waterlines with it, and then on my upper lash line, I use the shade Black Shimmer. I like to put a little Santal over it again and blend it all together. I don’t know that much about makeup, but from messing around with it, I’ve found that it looks really nice.

Then I curl my eyelashes and use Givenchy's Phenomen'Eyes Mascara in Deep Black. The spiked, little ball tip keeps my lashes curled and I'm able to get into all the angles with it. It’s super random how I found it—I traded photo work with my friend Kristin for a bunch of makeup because I don’t really know what I’m doing, so now I have drugstore stuff and basic Sephora stuff mixed with Givenchy.

I really love Josie Maran’s line so I use her Argan Cream Blush in Sunkissed. Her stuff is really great—I also really love her Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil because my skin is dry. Then I like to mix some of the Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizer with a drop of the Glossier's Priming Moisturizer and a drop of the Perfecting Skin Tint in Mediu m and a drop of my Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Ultra-Light Skin Perfecting Sunscreen Makeup Broad Spectrum SPF 15. I want my skin to look as natural as possible, but I still want to be covered up. The Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel Bronzing Makeup Base is great sometimes, too. It’s super light, so you can blend it and make it look realistic. I have an olive skin tone, so I can get darker with my makeup.

And I like lipstick in the summer! Usually I just wear red, and I’ve been sticking to the same one— Chanel Rogue Allure Velvet in La Fascinante. It’s a deep red. I like it because it’s creamy, but it’s not shiny. There’s no shimmer to it all, and it lasts a pretty long time. It took me a while to find a red lipstick that felt good on my lips, and when I finally found the shade that I wanted, I kind of stuck to it. I’ve never even tried a nude. I like how the red stands out.

A lot of times I accidentally sleep with my makeup on. That happens more than it should, and Glamglow's Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment is great for that. You can kind of apply it as light or as thick as you want, and it’s quick. I like the Boscia Luminizing Black Mask, too, but it takes a little longer.

My hair is crazy curly and thick, and it drives me crazy. During the winter, I straighten it, but in the summer I just stop. It gets curlier than this, but I’ll braid it when it’s kind of damp, or I’ll put stuff in it—mostly Giovanni's Frizz Be Gone Serum and OGX's Moroccan Sea Salt Spray. Now, I like to wear it kind of wavy and down. I feel like the weather, especially in New York, has a lot to do with your look when you're going out.

What I wear changes depending on how I go out and what event I'm going to. Tonight, I'm going to an outdoor garden party, so I think it makes sense to throw on some heels. I like glam—like the ‘70s YSL type. I can’t relax when the mood gets too bro-y, so I tend to go out with girls, and we always go to the same places! We stay out kind of late—until 3 or 4am or whenever it closes. Then we have to leave, but I always have a hard time coming home.”
