'Hey, I’m Cici [@cicihernandez]. Right now, I'm based in the Sunset District of San Francisco, but I've lived in Mexico, Los Angeles, and Oklahoma City at some point in my life as well. I represent Sunday Riley Modern Skincare at Barneys—so that's about driving sales, hosting facial events, and representing the brand in general. Naturally with what I do, I love being exposed to lots of new products. Usually, I like to stay pretty natural with my skincare. I will definitely pick something that is packaged beautifully but only if I'm convinced its ingredients are worth it. Pure, pure, pure!…but with pretty packaging.
I was always a snoop, growing up! I used to sneak through my aunts’ vanities and find the fragrance with the prettiest bottle and spray it all over myself. I always got caught, but that never stopped me from doing it. It got to a point that, when I was 10 years old, my mom gave me clearing pads to use for my face just to keep me busy.
I remember reading in Yasmin Sewell’s Top Shelf that she cleans the bacteria from her tongue before drinking water when she wakes up, so every morning, I'll use a tongue scraper. Then I'll drink a liter of water with a few drops of ChlorOxygen—it cleans out your blood. I at least like to feel like I'm detoxing in the morning, and it's a great way to start your day.
I use the Ole Henrikson African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser in the morning to wash my face. It's really aromatic, and the antioxidants give my skin a boost in the morning. First Aid Beauty’s Face Cleanser is always in my cabinet for its simplicity—a little bit goes a long way, especially since I don’t have anything on in the morning. I’ll buy that one time and time again. Then, I like to put an eye cream. I use Sunday Riley’s Start Over Active Eye Cream both day and night. It’s worked really well for undereye circles, and I've been using it for a couple of years now. I do make an effort to use sunblock. For this, I wear Josie Maran’s Argan Daily Moisturizer SPF 47. I love her 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil, too, because it never interferes with my makeup application.
The idea of living elegantly is a big deal to me—paying attention to the finer things and all that. It makes me feel like I can appreciate it all more. I like to start my makeup with a primer. I have a couple I use on different occasions. Hourglass’ Veil Mineral Primer kills it. But for now, I’m using Sunday Riley’s Effortless Breathable Tinted Primer in Medium, which is just as good. When I want my skin to feel special because I have an event, I use Tatcha's Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream—it's a moisturizer but doubles as a primer and makes my makeup look amazing. That’s exactly what I’m looking for in a moisturizer.
I like to focus on my complexion before I go in with color. I’m a die hard fan of YSL’s Touche Éclat Illuminating Foundation in Beige 30. I also like their Touche Éclat Radiant Touch pen in 2.5 for the way it highlights the contours in my face yet keeps my warm tone. I use the pen underneath my eyes and below my eyebrow to bring that out. The two together are my instant airbrush. I blend everything in with Sephora's Pro Flawless Airbush #56. Sephora's brushes are clean cut, precise, and well-made—that's all I need.
The makeup I look forward to the most involves doing my eyebrows. I’ve always been inspired to have a thicker brow. Bows down to Cara. I’ve found that the Kevyn Aucoin Precision Brow Pencil in Warm Blonde is the best for somebody with golden or red hair. Lately I’ve been setting that and a brow gel, but I don’t have a favorite yet. I do wear mascara everyday. My favorite is Givenchy’s Phenomen’Eyes Effet Extension Lengthening Mascara. I personally enjoy the ballpoint, because with a little bit of precision, you can pick and point where you want definition. It creates the appearance of eyelash extensions.
My favorite blushes are the Make Up For Ever HD Blushes in 420 and 335. The cream formula kind of sets in like skin, and I can just apply it really easily with my ring finger. I set it all in with Cover FX Illuminating Setting Powder in Light. It doesn’t take away from the YSL foundation.
And lately, the lipstick I've been wearing too much is Serge Lutens’ Matte Lipstick in #1. It’s the perfect red lipstick, and I line it with Givenchy’s Lip Liner in Lip Roug e.
At night, I take it all off with Tatcha’s Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil. I love cleansing oils, and this is by far the best one I’ve tried! I won’t take off my makeup any other way. It takes off the blackest of blacks and the toughest mascaras making it a super quick process. I don’t feel like I need to follow with a second cleanser, which is common when using an oil.
If it’s not an exfoliating night with Sunday Riley’s Good Genes, then I go straight to Sunday Riley Artemis Hydroactive Cellular Face Oil. I apply three drops to my hand and then on my T-zone and press it on my skin. I use that technique for it to absorb. If I’m not noticing any clogged pores, which usually show up on my cheeks, I’ll go straight for Caudalie’s Vinoperfect Radiance Serum. It tones down any redness, increases hydration, and prevents spots from happening.
Next is Glam Glow’s Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment for an all-over moisturizer. To be honest, I happened about this product because I wanted a little something more than just straight-up coconut oil. As it turns out, the mask is able to absorb like a rich cream and is not messy to sleep with it on.
One secret that I would share with the world about beauty pertains to health. Inflammation is the key to understanding the state of your skin. I make healthy choices because I know that my diet and lifestyle will show through my skin. I credit Dr. Perricone for teaching me that.”
