If you find yourself swinging by NYC’s Guggenheim in time to catch the Christopher Wool retrospective (open until January 22nd), you’ll first encounter a painting featuring a run-on phrase that begins, “THE SHOW IS OVER...”. Don't be discouraged. You're going the right way. It's all part of Wool's abstract, paradox-heavy text-based oeuvre, and, like Wool states in another painting, “IF YOU CAN'T TAKE A JOKE YOU CAN GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY HOUSE' [3].
These seemingly simple, at times aggressive, paintings were surprisingly layered, funny, and even soul-baring—like any poignant and succinct text has the potential to be, whether it's in a museum [21] or on Instagram. When you think about it, between the makeup artists, photographers, the models, stylists, and Eva Chen's manicures, there is a lot of text being shared on that social network. And, if we’re being honest, it’s pretty f *cking inspiring. Cara Delevingne [17-20], you’re one deep bitch, you know that? So, being that it's the Monday after your tryptophan-coma of a long weekend, we thought we'd pump you back up for the work week and life in general with a few of our favorite motivational Instas. After all, you do have just as many hours in a day as Beyoncé [15]. Now get back to work building your empire [16]. And remember, when worst comes to worst, there are always filters [14].
