...and, from what we've seen, it is GOOD. Though the multi-tasking designer’s new makeup collection doesn't hit Sephora shelves for a few weeks, a few star items have popped up for purchase on the store's website, including a sheer lip gloss (or “Lip Vinyl' in MJ parlance), lip balm, eyeliner pen, and eye shadow quads. According to the NYTimes, fashion designers dabbling in beauty is all the rage (see: Tom Ford, Matthew Williamson for Benefit, Alber for Lancôme, etc) but Jacobs' efforts, like Ford's, feel authentic to his brand, and image. The sleek, dark lacquered cases in orbital shapes echo the designer's Seventies-glam aesthetic (and obsession with all things round, remember?), and his humor comes through in the tongue-in-cheek product names (e.g., a Labello-esque lip balm called “ Makeout”). Our favorites from the range include an easy-on felt-tip eyeliner pen “Magic Marc'er') and the yet-to-be-released “Lash Lifter' mascara, which gives length and sharp definition—spikes?—but no clumps. It looks like you just have amazing lashes, not layers of inky product. Welcome to the beauty game, Marc. We're very happy to have you.
