Last week, seemingly EVERYONE in fashion/art/entertainment hightailed it to Florida for Art Basel Miami Beach, the international art fair. But what exactly happens down there? We enlisted a couple friends, Jen Brill and Liz Goldwyn, to report back on the festivities...and, of course, their party looks.

Dear Into The Gloss,

I'm down in Miami for a couple of nights for the art fair. My friend, the incredible nail artist Madeline Poole, is also down here, so we got together to do a 'nail look' before the Chanel dinner in honor of the Dash Snow Initiative at Henry Street. We decided on “South Beach Goth' to contrast my white, communion-like dress—a black base with different pastel-color crosses [2]. I kept my makeup pretty simple: a black mascara by Eyeko, which makes my lashes wonderfully long and chunky (the saleswoman who sold it to me insisted that Adele uses it), Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Fascinante, a gorgeous matte red lipstick, Cowshed Lip Balm from the hotel that I put on my eyelids for some shine, and a pinch of Nars Deep Throat rouge on my cheeks [1].

Good news: Madeline is coming back to New York after Miami—I hope I can talk her into giving me miniature replicas of Nate Lowman's 'air freshener' paintings on my nails!
