I’ve long professed my love of a certain American Apparel men’s button-down, an item of clothing that my pal Stevie Dance sees me in pretty much every time we get together, so imagine my delight when she offered me a smorgasbord of options to play with for an impromptu dress-up session that she just posted on Shopghost (Shop with Emily Weiss!) today. It’s the perfect article of clothing for a Shop With, because it’s my favorite thing to shop for: unlike a t-shirt or a sweater, a good neutral-colored button-down (Acne and Equipment have you covered) makes you instantly look more pulled-together, and, much like a pair of jeans, the right chambray shirt (T by Alexander Wang, Marc by Marc Jacobs) and a pair of pointy black suede pumps gives ‘casual’ new meaning. Cuffed sleeves, messy hair (half a can o’ Dry Texturizing Spray), dewy skin... Pants and tube socks optional.
