We've officially launched a meme...sort of.
When ITG delivered the news (and pics!) of Olivier Theyskens' Grunge-era haircut on Friday, it quickly spread from New York (Fashionista mourned the loss) to Paris...It also sparked a surge of commenter support. Take Anacanada, who wrote, “is he straight? do i have a chance? what a friggin babe. i think i need to book a trip to NYC, like yesterday.”
And we just got word that Olivier's new 'do has landed on a t-shirt.
Designed by Theyskens' Theory's web editor Dana Veraldi and pal Kevin Tekinel (both close friends of Olivier's and t-shirt designers in their own right), the limited-edition shirts will debut during the label's Fashion's Night Out festivities tomorrow, Sept. 6. “I drew Olivier with short hair and the banner and Olivier drew the little Theyskens' Theory girls on the bottom.” Veraldi e-mailed us. “We only have 70 of these, so they're very limited edition.” They'll be available, for $75 each, at Theory's 40 Gansevoort store starting at 6pm tomorrow. Run!
(Dana also sent us a few nostalgic snaps [4, 5] of Olivier frolicking in the ocean in Montauk a few months ago, pre-chop. He makes a beautiful merman, no?)
