Color Theory: Blue Mascara

Summerrrrrrrr is heeeere!

For makeup, for me, that means one pop of color somewhere and that’s a wrap: a sheer lipstick (Rouge d’Armani Sheers in #400, a clear red, is my current go-to), a bright nail (Essie’s Sunkist-esque Fear or Desire hits the spot) or, for an unexpected twist, lacquering lashes in blue instead of the typical black. The models at Stella McCartney’s fall show sported a bright cobalt gel painted on top and bottom lashes—a concoction whipped up on the spot by Pat McGrath—but for those of us less inclined to DIY, several brands have us covered. Dior Diorshow in Azure Blue, Estée Lauder Sumptuous Two-Tone in Bold Black/Rich Blue, By Terry Mascara Terrybly in Terrybleu (recommended to me, as you might recall, by the creator herself), and Ck One’s newly launched mascara in Electrify are all tried and true by yours…truly. My favorite way to wear it is all-out: several coats, on top and bottom lashes, and don’t worry about some smudging. It’s hot out—let loose a little.
