“I recently purged a lot of my old cosmetics and products. Like, eye shadow I haven’t used in five years, for example. We’re in New York—there’s not a lot of room! So I’m very streamlined these days. My skin is dry. I’ve been told it’s combination but I think it’s just dry. [Laughs] I use Coconut Oil on my face—just pure, organic coconut oil that you buy in a giant tub from Whole Foods. It’s the most amazing moisturizer ever, there are no preservatives or chemicals, and it’s about $10. My skin sucks it right up. I decant the oil into little plastic jars from Muji and throw them in my purse. You can use it on your whole body and also your lips…I cook with it too!

I love NARS lip pencils in Damned, which I have on now, and Dragon Girl, Cruella and Red Square. I like it because it stays put; regular lipstick tends to slide all over. Stila liquid eyeliner is great—really easy to apply. For every day I like Benetint for my lips and cheeks, and Bare Minerals powder concealer—but you have to buy their ‘concealer’ brush to apply it or it doesn’t work well. There’s something about that brush that’s amazing. It’s an unbeatable combination; it covers so well and totally blends with your skin tone. I think Chanel has the most unique nail polish colors, and Essie has great reds. My mom recently gave me shampoo and conditioner from Leonor Greyl—I don’t know where she got it but it’s really good. Unfortunately it’s also really expensive so I’ll alternate between that and Kiehl’s or EO from Whole Foods. The upstairs beauty department at Whole Foods on Houston Street is my spot. I get Alba tuberose body wash there too—it smells insanely good. And Skin Trip lotion, which I’ve been using since high school. When I first brought it home my mom was like, ‘I used this when I was a teenage hippie.’

My hair color is natural. I don’t wash it that much, maybe 2 or 3 times a week, and use Oscar Blandi dry shampoo in between. Sometimes I’ll use Moroccan Oil, and L’Oreal Elnett hairspray—smells like a Granny but it’s not sticky and it literally brushes right out. I like perfumes by Fresh—they’re not too heavy and I can mix them: Pomegranate Anise and the Hesperides are my current favorites. Other standbys are Bach Flower Cream, it’s a European thing for skin repair, and Neutrogena Norwegian Hand Cream. Oh and I decant a lot of my beauty products into Muji containers—it’s probably my favorite store. I don’t like all those bottles; I like the clean look. It also allows me to buy things in bulk, which saves money. I don’t switch products that often…I’m a pretty loyal customer.”
