ITG: Would you say there’s an “Alexander Wang aesthetic” when it comes to beauty at work?

Monika: Yeah, you don’t wear makeup really. Seriously—at the show, which is really the only time we do ourselves up, co-workers come up to me and say, “You look different. You look really pretty.” [laughs] I’ll use Chanel tinted moisturizer, DiorShow mascara…and I want to be the spokesperson for Carmex, because I probably use one tube per day. I also love the Moroccanoil hair products—the oil and the hairspray. I still go home to Chicago to get my hair done; I’ve been seeing the same person since college. Going to someone new for hair color really scares me, so I fly back to Dave Fonseca at Salon Fete.

Christina: We’re pretty natural here. I can’t live without Aquaphor. For makeup, I like Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer, YSL Touche Éclat, and L’Oreal Double Extend mascara. My hair is naturally wavy, but I do Japanese hair straightening at a place called Sei-Tomoko. She’s one of the first people who did it here; she’s old school from Japan. It’s growing out right now so it’s straight on the ends but with strange volume at the roots. [laughs] Most Chinese people have straight hair—everyone in my family has straight hair except for my mom and I.
