Hi, I’m Anna Sementchouk @perogi_princess. I live in Montreal, Quebec, and I’m a bartender and server at an Irish pub called Honey Martin. I studied to be a ballet dancer, and I did that for a couple of years after I finished school, but I had always worked in the service industry while I was doing my studies. Somehow the transition to working full-time in service happened. It wasn't quite the direction I anticipated my life going, but it’s something I’ve become very good at. I was always outgoing but I didn't really know how to connect with people until I started to talk to people everyday. I think I have been able to build better relationships because of my job—probably because I genuinely love speaking and interacting with people. I’ve heard some crazy stories and I’ve also heard stories that make me put the important things into perspective.

Because I'm always interacting with people, the pressure is on to look presentable at all times. For me, this means taking care of my skin. I struggled with mild acne through my teenage years so I would always wear some form of foundation or tinted moisturizer and a bit of blush. Then as I got older, my skin got progressively worse and I was put on Accutane, which changed everything—I went crazy and started buying all sorts of skincare and makeup because I didn't have to worry about healing or covering my pimples anymore.

It took me a while to find my routine, but now, I stick to it. Every morning and night, I either wash my face with the Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Cleanser, which is a bit stripping so I switch it out with some basic Cetaphil. Then I usually follow with either the Clinique Clarifying Lotion 1 or Nip and Fab's Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme. The most important thing for my skin is exfoliation. When I don't exfoliate, my skin looks dull and dry—and it also creates a flake-free base for my makeup. Lately I've been moisturizing with the Dr. Jart Ceramidin Liquid followed by the Cicapair Tiger Grass Cream. A great moisture combination that doesn't break me out. I've also been adding Herbivore Lapis Balancing Facial Oil and Odacité Black Cumin-Cajeput Oil into my nighttime routine which gives me extra hydration for the winter and help clear up any small bumps. But honestly, if I ever get a big pimple, the best treatment is tea tree oil. It dries up those suckers in no time.

And masks! I'll try any type of mask. Some of my favorites are the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask, the Dr. Jart Vital Hydra Solution Sheet Mask, and my good ol’ Biore Ultra Deep Cleansing Pore Strips. If you do all three in a row, your skin looks and feels like you went for a fancy facial. My best tip is to use a Foreo Luna over your sheet mask to massage the essence into your skin. It depuffs your face and seriously hydrates your skin. I'll usually do one a mask in the bath, and I’m one of those people who probably takes a bath almost every single day… Is anyone else like that? Also I like to get a shellac pedicure every two or three weeks—just to relax and feel pampered.

My hair is very picky—my scalp is dry and oily at the same time. I use apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle as a pre-shampoo treatment every time I wash my hair to clear away all the flakes, and then I wash with either the Christophe Robin Sea Salt Scrub or a Wen Cleansing Conditioner depending on how my hair is looking and feeling. I use the Verb Volume Conditioner and I like it because it doesn't weigh down my fine hair. Usually I wear it in a bun with a middle- or side-part. I guess it’s kind of become my signature look. It’s rare to see me with my hair down—it just doesn't look as full as I want it to.

I collect and hoard makeup… I think I have over a hundred lipsticks. If I'm going out, I'll usually do a base with the Yves Saint Laurent Top Secrets All-In-One BB Cream in Light or the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation in Vanille, some bronzer or contour, and then do a super bright lip. My favorites are MAC Pink Pigeon, MAC Party Parrot [ed note: discontinued], Dior Pink Caprice or Kat Von D Lullabye. I wear mascara occasionally but I recently got a lash lift and now I swear by them. Sans lash lift, I used to use a curler like the Shu Uemura one. I really like the bare eyelashes and bright lipstick look on my face although it doesn't always translate well in photographs. Also, I like to dye my brows a shade darker once a month and I set them everyday with Benefit Gimme Brow in Medium. I've always loved fashion and I try to mimic the makeup I see in most fashion shows—clean, simple and dewy, with statement brows. I would rather my outfit be the star of the show and my makeup be complimentary."
