If you've never tried NARS' famed Velvet Matte Lip PencilsDragon Girl and Red Square, especially—take a moment to brush up on our interviews with Élodie Bouchez, Emerald, Melissa, Natalie Joos, Steffy (worth revisiting regardless—such a cool girl), Marina, Kate Young, Lori Goldstein, and Irina, and tell us you don't want to give one a go. The colors are gorgeous, the pigment density is insane, and the stuff does. not. move. If longwear is your aim, then welcome to your game.

Let's say, though, that matte is not for you. You're more of a sensual lip kind of gal, and that more-than-a-glaze, not-quite-a-lipstick zone is your happy place. Give a warm welcome to Satin Lip, the creamy, moisturizing kid sister to Velvet Matte. We partnered with NARS to create an original video and photo campaign featuring fashion-industry fave Laurel Pantin (who might just have the best lips in the biz...or ever...right?), wearing nine of our favorite Satin Lip shades (and her signature septum chain by J. Colby Smith). And, in honor of the launch, we're giving away a complete set of all thirteen colors (!!!) to one lucky reader. The contest has closed!

Happy Friday!

XOXO,

ITG

Love NARS matte lip pencils - wish they would bring back Ophelia - and am looking forward to trying the satin ones!

I've been curious about these and will definitely give them a try. If you've partnered with NARS, not sure how frankly you can answer questions about the products, but does anyone know if these last as long as the matte pencils?

Big fan of Mexican Rose--stays on forever and gets richer with every touch up.

I tend to blot the satin lip pencils down to take most of the creaminess out of them- they saturate the lip more than the Velvet Mattes, so you're really left with an amazing stain (whereas the velvet mattes stay on mainnnly because they don't transfer). I have Yu and Luxembourg and NARS have really got it sorted with these.

I'm curious too, how does the lasting power of these compare to the matte pencils? Lately I've gotten totally hooked on the YSL Glossy Stain, and that stuff doesn't budge at all, it's like magic! But of course I'm not above branching out if these last as well...

Hi I bought and am using two of the new NARS Satin Lip pencils. Staying power for me is about 4-6 hours, even after drinking water. I have two of the YSL Glossy Stains but I prefer the NARS; the pencil makes it easier to line and fill in your mouth, and there is no detectable scent, whereas the YSL has a scent (and taste) that bother my very sensitive skin. I also found the brighter YSL shade I bought was extremely hard to remove. I prefer the NARS shades; they are a bit more compatible and sophisticated with my light ivory complexion. And NARS is less expensive than YSL so I can buy a few more ; )

  • Restless Blonde

I love all of the shades. On such beautiful lips every color looks good. I'd really like to try these lipsticks... I regret that they're not available in Poland...

I can't lie, I got a little delirious when I realised this was a giveaway. Every time that sidebar changes to Biscayne Park I swoon all over again. Such a perfect peony pink for fair skinned ladyfriends like myself!

Palais Royal is my jam! (Although it lacks the staying power of my second favorite, Jardin des Plantes.) Even better, all the colors are named after international gardens from here to Shanghai.

I've been wishing for a mix between the Covergirl Outlast Lip Color and the Clinique Chubby Stick, and I think this is it. Great post-- that red-orange is pure perfection.
