If there's one thing I love almost as much as beauty, it's vintage clothing. If my closet were filled entirely with tea-length 1940's floral print day dresses (OK, and the odd smattering of Phoebe Philo's Céline), I'd be a happy camper. So when Natalie Joos asked me— me—if I'd like my own “Tale' on her crazy-good blog Tales of Endearment, the answer was a resounding YES.

We started at my apartment early one Saturday morning (my “product table' was in particularly good order, thank God), resurrecting some of my favorite finds from over the years, and wound up taking the train to Connecticut for some frock hunting. We were the only girls walking down Greenwich Avenue in heels; two ducks out of water, no doubt. We tore through Sophia's Great Dames like a tornado—the clothes were flying. In fact, so was I: for one shot, I attempted several high kicks and on the third (and final) attempt, completely wiped out. Good thing we were on grass.
