“I’m Summer Dawn Miller [@summer.dawn] and I live in New York. I work at Isabel Marant’s Soho boutique, styling and consigning for specific clients. Everyone I work with is incredibly effortless, stunning, and very French. We like working with our hair pulled back and very little makeup on, which is good for me. It keeps my head clear and I don’t have to worry about touching up my eyeliner, or fixing my lipstick after coffee. I don’t want to think about what I’m wearing… I love anything easy and lazy.

I’ve struggled with hormonal breakouts for most of my life, so I’m always trying to simplify my routine. In the morning I just rinse with cool water and pat dry with a fresh towel. I'm really into fluffy, white, clean towels—they're so important, especially if you easily break out. After my face is dry, I use Natura Bissé The Cure Toner and it's unreal. It makes your skin look like rice paper. Then I use a drop of Natura Bissé Essential Shock Intense Cream afterwards. Literally, just a drop… It's so rich. And I've been using Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado for 500 years now. I'll never use anything else.

At night, I take off my makeup with the Natura Bissé Diamond Cleanse. When I bought it, the Barneys person told me to rub it all around to loosen up my makeup. It feels so greasy and heavy at first, but I like it. You can feel it working. Then I add a little water and it goes milky. I wet my Clarisonic and scrub it around to really get the cleanser going. After I wash, I use the Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask, which is great for every day. I’m originally from Virginia where it’s really humid, so my skin isn’t really used to the dry winter air. I used to use a mixture of different serums and night creams to moisturize but my skin actually hated that. It’s much happier when I stick to one line. I do collect sheet masks, though. Dr. Jart Dermask Clearing Solution is great for when you’re breaking out, but it’s still light and doesn’t dry out your skin—the Dermask Brightening Solution is great, too. I also love Mario Badescu for acne treatments. His Buffering Lotion is so good on hormonal breakouts. Sometimes I put it on my nose when I have blackheads, and they’re gone by morning.

For makeup, I start with Natura Bisse’s The Cure Cream. It has SPF and a sheer tint, so it works for a lot of different complexions. Afterwards I use Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer in 3 to cover any spots I might have missed, and it’s great because it’s pure pigment. You only need a speck, and even then it’s still too much! I’ll use that on my face, but I don’t use anything on my under-eyes. I’d rather have dark circles than a creasy under-eye. It’s too much blending. And I just got Kevyn Aucoin Creamy Glow Blush in Tresbelle, which gives the perfect flush. I don’t want sparkly cheeks. I love a natural blush—it’s so modern. And then I set everything with the Nars Pressed Powder I’ve had for years.

If I’m in the mood, I’ll do a little cat eye with Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner, followed by Chanel Le Volume Mascara, which I’ve stockpiled in my bathroom. For a night look, I love a red lip. I alternate between Nars Dragon Girl, Cruella, and Kat Von D’s Underage Red. Cruella looks best when I’m tan. Boy by Chanel is my favorite nude-pink lip, and it can double as a cream blush. On top of it all, and this is my secret weapon, I use Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist. It just makes everything look better! I love dewy. I want my skin to look wet. I’ll send before and after photos to my friends when I use the Tatcha—they think I’m insane, but they notice the difference.

My hair is much more low-maintenance and I get a balayage no more than three times a year. My best friend Javier works at the Scott J. Salon on the Upper West Side and he’s always like, ‘Summer, I need you to come in here. I need you to be blonder.’ I’m his muse! I wash my hair twice a week at the most, and I’ve used Aveda Blue Malva Shampoo for the past five years—it’s great for blondes. I’m always changing up my conditioner. Right now I’m using Bumble and bumble Hairdresser’s Oil Conditioner and I think I’ll stick to it. I let it air dry and I part it in the middle, comb it forward, put a little of the Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil on the ends, and sleep on it. My boyfriend is a barber and I always ask him to give me a blowout, but he refuses. Instead, I usually scrape my hair back into a low bun or ponytail every day. I think there's something so young and fresh about a ponytail."
