If we're playing Fall 2015 ad campaign trendspotting, may we point out one triumph in particular. As previously mentioned, Jennifer Connelly, Alicia Vikander, Freja Beha, and others in the Louis Vuitton Series 3 are giving good face—especially when it comes to that heavy black liner (bottom lashline only). Not enlightened yet? Consider the dueling campaign videos (one shot by Bruce Weber; the other by Juergen Teller) some highly enjoyable lunchtime viewing.

Or better yet: Check it on Kadri Vahersalu. Paired with a clean white shirt (but don't bother ironing it—you're too cool for that) and soft unfussed hair, the kohl is less about being tough and more about being bold. The market's seen a bevy of smudgey black liners in the past year plus—from drugstore to high-end—but it's worth going in for the Guerlain Terracotta Loose Kohl Powder in 01 Noir on this one. It's perfectly powdery and is surprisingly reflective given its matte-ness. And it's got the most delicate wand ever made, so drawing a thin (then thicker, then thickest) line from corner to corner is easy-peasy. Also, all skintones welcome. Kadri's light features (read: blond brows) only serve to give the line more dimension—also, make sure to notice her two different colored eyes. Skip the sunglasses and get a little squinty. It adds to the look.
