“I don’t think there is ever a wrong time for a polka dot,” Marc Jacobs has said, and in keeping with that spirit, he’s launched a social-media club of sorts, MarcTheDot, around his newest perfume, Dot—and everyone’s invited. When you spy spots, dots, or circles, whip out your phone and Instagram or Tweet your pic with the hash tag #MarcTheDot to join the conversation. We jumped on the bandwagon while we were in Los Angeles with Langley, clocking circles on everything from street signs to martini swizzle-sticks. Back on our home turf in NYC, we found circles left and right in our SoHo neighborhood, and, gasp, even uptown—the Whitney’s remarkable Yayoi Kusama exhibit being just about the only thing that could lure us above 14th street. Between art, fashion (Louis Vuitton’s Kusama collab), and Jacobs’ latest fragrance, it’s clear that dots are having a moment.
With that in mind, we worked with Langley to create a limited-edition sticker celebrating Jacobs’ latest olfactory creation. The 22-year-old artist riffed on the bottle’s surreal look (are those ladybugs? Or butterflies?), and, if you’re in NYC, you can get your hands on her whimsical design by heading to Bloomingdale’s 59th Street flagship; starting today, they’ll be giving away stickers and samples of the brand-new scent.
