What’s The Best Concealer Under $20?

The concealer textures, types, and shades out there are almost limitless. For shade options, Lorac Coverup Concealer or BareMinerals Correcting Concealer both offer more comprehensive ranges that also, thankfully, take undertones into account. If your concerns are more about portability than availability, pencils are the best thing to take with you for touch-ups, since they won't spill and there's no applicator, so you might consider something like Urban Decay Concealer Pencil. There are even anti-aging versions—TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer is beeswax-based and designed to protect skin and fill in lines.

But we want to hear from you! What's your favorite concealer brand and shade, and why does it work well for you?

Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Is the best (I like SC-4) and can cover absolutely any blemish or discoloration. Although it's around $32, TECHNICALLY you're getting two shades for the price of one, so I believe it should still be classified as under $20.

    • Alyssa

I've been dying to try this! I'm glad you mentioned it for the "under $20 concealer".

      • Misia Galka

I use SC (also in SC-4) and its great for covering blemishes/marks. Not great for under the eyes though as it's too dry but I've recently discovered a great dupe for Touche Eclat - Maybelline Dream Lumi. I use the Nude shade which is great if you are a NW20 under the eyes. Dream Lumi is about $9CAD and covers under eye circles without creasing or looking cakey.

I used to be a devotee to Bobbi Brown's under eye concealer ($26) until I discovered Maybelline Dream Lumi Highlighting Concealer for about $8 at CVS. I use it to cover dark circles and as a highlighter when I contour. As a law student who suffers through a lot of late nights, Dream Lumi is a godsend :)

    • Dana

Ooh, as a fellow law student I need a good dark circle cover. Thanks!

    • sashi

You are SO RIGHT. Dream Lumi is the ultimate. It kind of fades midday, but you can add more easily I absorb it with fingers, then use a soft small brush to blend. Nothing else works! Lancome, Bare Min, Cle de peau, MAC..... useless. And my eyes have DARK hereditary circles. As in, I cannot leave home without concealer. .

mac studio fix or mac pro longwear were always my go to - i use bobbi brown and illamasqua interchangeably now - theyre not bad but i dont get enough product for as much as i use concealer so i think i'm going to switch back

  • Gina

I use garnier's skin renew anti-dark circle eye roller. It has caffeine in it as well, so it helps with puffiness too.

For acne I actually use physician's formula, the one with green on one end and skin tone on the other. It's gimmicky, but it really works much better than any other drugstore brand I've tried.

  • Juan Jaar

NYX HD Concealer is AMAZING, and FIVE BUCKS YOU GUYS. Mac Prolongwear is THE ONLY ONE if you get creasing. It. Will. Not. Move. I've been on SUCH a Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer kick lately (long wearing and great like the mac, not AS rock hard tho- pro or con to some)

K-Palette Zero Kuma Concealer in 1. It's creamy and absolutely does not budge. I have pretty moderate acne and hyperpigmentation...this covers it all up. It does not break me out, and it has very high coverage. Very buildable as well.

The Clinique Acne Clearing Solutions! Salicylic acid and a cute blue bottle. $20 in Canada.... Not many shades but one little bottle goes FOREVER.

Revlon colorstay - I forget what shade, I'm usually one of the palest ivory/fair shades. This has been my go-to for blemishes for almost 20 years (I use By Terry touche veloutee as an eye highlighter/concealer). I stockpile it! For a while in the early 00s they changed the formula quite badly to the point where it wasn't usable (when it was in the rounded oval test tube looking tube), but for some reason in the last 5 years it got changed back to pretty much what it was in the 90s, thank goodness. Once on and blended, it will NOT BUDGE (which is a godsend when you have a spot or redness around the nose you need to cover!).

  • Tab Smith

  • Kiara

I love the Maybelline Lumi Touch concealer for my eyes.

  • Franquie

    I co-sign your sentiments on RMS un-cover up 100%.
I will check out the Youngblood on your recommendation - I just use concealer to cover the occasional blemish, is it good for that?

    • murt

Yes definitely *if* you can find your shade. The shade range is very very limited but otherwise it's a great, highly pigmented concealer.

ETA: it reminds me of Bobbi Brown creamy concealer - so it's good for dry skin but not as slippy as the RMS - you'll probably need to set with powder unless your skin is very dry.

  • Amy Bevis-Smith

I'm not sure about $ pricing but I looove the NYX hd wand concealer, its kind of a baby to the NARS radiant creamy concealer, which is bomb! love both for under eyes and blemishes

  • win

thx will try youngblood! glad to hear that it works for dry skin too

  • Sophie Bly

maybelline magic touch concealer or loreal cc concealer

  • Angie

I absolutely love TheBalm TimeBalm Concealer. It is the only think I have found that covers my dark circles, doesn't look caked on and doesn't settle at all in fine lines. Plus it is good for your skin. I have tried literally hundreds of concealers from high end to low and this is definitely my HG concealer.

Is Soap & Glory available in the States? KICK ASS Concealer, £10 - a pocket-sized cute ass pot, with a brightening concealer/corrector, a face concealer (to go on top or wherever else you may need) and, if that ain't enough, a setting powder that comes with it!! Truly lives up to it's name:

VERY similar to the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer. Almost dupe like. Due to it's insanely creamy texture it can feel a little slippery and so a fair amount of layering is needed depending on the amount of coverage you like. Prone to creasing a little too but nothing an eye primer/cream can't fix. AWESOME AWESOME finish, doesn't look too matte and cake but, rather, looks natural and normal - if I can even use that word here. I bloody well hope you can get it in the US after all this rambling.

Sonia Kashuk's concealer palette at Target ($10.49). It's a dupe of Laura Mercier's concealer duo- it comes with a yellow-toned concealer to cancel redness, a highlighting concealer, and a powder. Blends and conceals blemishes and dark circles flawlessly.

  • Taylor

I like Hard Candy's Glamoflauge concealer when I'm needing some more serious undereye brightening. Very comparable to Kat Von D's Lock-It Tattoo Concealer but only $6 at good 'ol Wally World...great for doing a more dramatic facial contouring.

  • Ruby

Sonia Kashuka's All Covered Up is a really good concealer for $10.

  • Guest

revlon photo ready stick! it's not the most moisturizing concealer, but it's super easy and quick to use, and has great coverage for around $8! i use it for blemishes and around my nose area, and sometimes under my eyes.
