The possibilities for organizing makeup are basically endless, depending on the amount of space you have, the kinds of products you use, and your personal aesthetic, etc. Don't run out to The Container Store just yet, though—there are a few organizational principles you should keep in mind.
- Keep it dry—Makeup gathers bacteria the same way anything else does, so try to keep your brushes and any other items that can be exposed to air either packed up in a train case or in the open, dry air instead of a fogged-up bathroom cabinet.
- Keep it clear—With products as small as eyeshadow, tweezers, and mascara, it's easy to lose track of your stuff, so clear acrylic trays are ideal.
- Keep it mobile—Chances are that you'll be traveling at some point, so it's never a bad idea to have a brush roll or hanging makeup case along for the trip.
