Does Exfoliating Dry Skin Out?

Aqua Glycolic
Aqua Glycolic Face Cream
Pixi
Pixi Glow Tonic

It can, but it doesn't have to! The skin you expose by exfoliating is delicate and easy to dry out, so it's not the exfoliating itself that makes your skin feel parched, per se.

The most important thing is to give your face extra hydration after you use any kind of scrub or peel. That way you protect your lipid barrier and seal in the moisture you already have.

Also make sure that the exfoliant you're using isn't too harsh. If you're using a skin-sloughing product every day, consider using something extra mild. Pixi Glow Tonic is a great toner that also has a little acid in it for brightening and keeping mild acne away. If you're not a toner fan, there's also Aqua Glycolic Face Cream, which actually exfoliates while it hydrates—it's a longtime favorite for combating dullness and fine lines.

I've been using raw honey and sugar to exfoliate my face. It's been really helpful and not as drying as other exfoliants I've used. And I just bought the Embryolisse lotion so let's see how that goes!

I love putting on a mask of honey! It's so sticky and uncomfortable to sleep in, but it has helped my skin so much.

Cure Natural Aqua Gel. Takes off all your dead skin, feels like it says: a gel made of water. Follow with a moisturizer and you're set.

I've been using The Magic Pads which work well for me. I might need to bump it to the Pixi Tonic!

blackheads are never 'permanently' removed by topical products.. i'd look into laser

You use Dermalogica light exfoliant. You exfoliate without having to scrub. It's a mask. Plus, it contains lactic acid that always keeps my skin hydrated. It's really, really good! It's 40$ though....but stilll, I was happy I spent money on that product. It was worth it.

ITG introduced me to Biologique Recherché and I am loving there P50 without phenol. You can really feel it when you first apply it, but it doesn't dry my skin at all.

Kate Somerville's ExfoliKate treatment is a strong and effective scrub. I have dry skin so I have always steered clear of exfoliating, but ExfoliKate doesn't dry out my skin further and actually leaves it with a great glow. I use it at night once or twice a week before applying another favorite product of mine, Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Both products smell earthy and amazing!

Could it be possible that they aren't actually black heads, but sebaceous filaments? I thought I had tons of blackheads on my nose for forever before I discovered that it was just the filaments. Moisturizing regularly really helped reduce the appearance of mine.

um. omg. i think you just changed my life.

It's crazy, right??? I went for so long being embarrassed of the 'blackheads' on my nose and when I found out about sebaceous filaments it was a revelation. Cleansing with oils + getting a moisturizing routine made mine practically disappear.

Sephora sells this little doo-dad for $6. I love it because it's gentle and I can use my regular cleanser with it. I've used it as frequently as everyday with no ill effects and my skin can be tempermental.
