The polls are in, so I’m calling it: Eyeliner is the most impactful makeup product you can apply to your eyes. Depending on the stroke, the way it flicks, whether it’s kohl, gel, inky or matte, it can shape your eyes into being as big and beguiling as a baby deer's, or as sultry as [insert any Alexa Demie character here]. But what keeps me going back to eyeliner, even after weeks of going without, is the transformative way it makes me look so polished. Which is also why I wanted to learn even more—maybe a few more tricks? So, for my own selfish desires, I reached out to three makeup artists who know and love eyeliner, and can do it with ease—Shayna Goldberg, Emi Kaneko, and Mimi Quiquine. Here’s what they're wearing to their favorite places After Dark:

The destination: Mezzrow and Terra Blues for some post-dinner jazz
The look: An unexpected take on liquid liner

"Here's an easy, foolproof way to do winged liner on yourself. I use a felt-tip pen like Stila's Stay All Day liquid liner, and tap it on its side where my top and bottom lids meet. You're using the liner tip as a stamp for your wing. Then, connect that to your lash line, and that's it! I add MAC’s In Extreme Dimension mascara in Black for feathery lashes to complement the wing.

For the rest of my look, I apply Nars Soft Matte Concealer to my undereyes and any blemishes that need coverage for a light base. Then, I use a simple yet amazing Shiseido brow pencil and Glossier Boy Brow in Clear to groom and hold everything into place. I actually use the same brow pencil to line my lips—it has gray undertones, so when you overdraw your lips it looks like a shadow and your lips seem a little bigger. I use Tom Ford's Soleil Bronzer in Terra as a wash in my eyelid crease, across the bridge of my nose, and in a ‘3’ shape along the hairline, cheekbone, and jawline. It has no shimmer and gives a believable glow—perfect if you're pale like I am. Next, I use my sweat stick—or, Chanel Baume Essentiel. It's all the dew without the shimmer. I finish with RMS Lip2Cheek in Illusive, the perfect berry for a just-bitten look, on my lips and cheeks."

The destination: Drinks at candlelit Bacaro
The look: A sharp, straight wing

“I do a different version of a wing every day. But for a night out, a straight, edgy winged liner is bold enough to see in dim light and still feels like me. I use Glossier Pro Tip—it glides really easily, and the pigment is super rich. Love, love, love. Surratt's Lash Curler is the perfect shape for my eyes, and Tom Ford's Extreme Mascara gives my lashes volume, thickness, length—all of it.

With skincare as a base, I apply Kosas Tinted Face Oil all over. It has a semi-matte finish and really good slip, which helps build the perfect canvas. Touche Éclat in 3 is slightly brighter than my skin tone, and I use it under my eyes and on the bridge of my nose as a natural highlight. Chanel’s Les Beiges Bronzer in Deep makes my face look more alive, and the blush in Kosas's 8th Muse duo will last me all through dinner. Chanel Baume Essentiel in Sculpting is the perfect glossy highlight, and I use their Boy de Chanel pencil to fill in the parts of my brows that are more sparse. One more Chanel product, Rouge Coco Flash in Boy, is the finishing touch—it's an easy nude with some shine."

The destination: Dancing at the 'Back to Life' DJ set at KinFolk bar and Baby’s All Right venue
The look: Sexy, smudgy liner that's imperfectly cool

"Sometimes black liner is a little too intense, but deep brown is easy to get away with. MAC eyeliner in Coffee is the perfect creamy pencil—I apply it along my top and bottom lash lines, and use a Q-tip to blend it out. L'Oréal's Voluminous Lash Paradise builds volume without getting clumpy—for a night out I’ll apply five coats of it. In between each application, I brush through with a lash comb to keep my lashes separated.

I prep my skin with Go-To's Face Hero and apply Too Faced Lip Injection to give my lips some hydration. Then, I use Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer in 2 and 2.5 under my eyes and on any dark marks to even out my skin tone. I set it with a teeny bit of Fenty's powder, and then use their Bajan Gyal Bronzer for a warm, easy glow. Fenty's brow pencil is great, too—the brush it comes with buffs out any hard edges. ELF's clear brow gel holds everything in place, forever. I use my eyeliner as a lip liner for a brown '90s lip, fill it in with Fenty's Lip Paint in Unveil, and I'm done.
