"Hellooo my name is Walker Bunting (@walkerbunting) and I was born and raised in Los Angeles. As of right now I’m establishing myself as a working fashion photographer. I spend my days with friends, shooting and sometimes assisting, using the Internet to forge professional connections and tending to 20 chickens, a duck, three dogs, a cat and a little turtle from Chinatown. Although I live in the Hollywood Hills, I like to think of myself as a country boy at heart.

If anything, photography helps me appreciate beauty in all forms and extremities. My own personal approach to beauty isn’t always in line with the subjects I photograph. Simplicity is the name of the game for me. My cardinal rules are self-explanatory—cleanse, tone, moisturize, and apply SPF. I take most of my inspiration from ancient beauty rituals. Cleopatra knew what was good.

I use Avène’s moisturizer and cleanser as well as their lightweight facial sunscreen. The products are gentle, rich in moisture, and scentless—things you can always depend on in French skincare. I also keep a Boscia Detoxifying Black Charcoal cleanser in the shower. I find it’s best used when the steam from the hot water opens up my pores. It’s great for helping balance my oil production. As for toner, whatever gets the LA pollution out of my pores is good in my book. My friend recently gave me a gentle hydrating Chanel toner, but apple cider vinegar works great too. After the cleansing and toning, I massage my face and neck with Aura Cacia rosehip oil. It’s perfect for firming the skin and evening out and and brightening your complexion. I can’t rave about it enough. Another oil I’ve been loving is the Heritage Store Lavender Castor Oil. I’ve had a recent fixation with growing a unibrow and castor oil is a magical product for hair growth. My eyebrows are thicker than they already were and I have the beginnings of a unibrow, albeit the hairs are super light blonde. For added moisture throughout the day, I constantly spray my face and neck with Heritage Store Rosewater and Glycerin Facial Mist. I’m obsessed with anything rose related.

My mom turned me onto the Guinot Gommage Biologique peeling radiance gel. It starts as a gel and as you rub it into your skin it turns into a liquid. There’s green tea in it too, which I love. It’s just one of those products that instantly makes your complexion more radiant. My friends have also put me onto aloe vera and mānuka honey masks that you can make at home. The aloe makes your skin kind of itchy at first but it ends up leaving your complexion silky smooth.

I wash my body with Dr. Bronner’s Lavender Castile soap and a textured washcloth. Sometimes I’ll use the Fig + Yarrow sea scrub to get rid of dead skin. I find that coconut oil is the best natural body moisturizer. For body SPF, I look for any baby formula carried at the drug store. I shave with an unscented aloe shaving gel—I get razor burn on my neck so I need something that is extremely hydrating and unscented. As for my hair, I stopped using shampoo and conditioner in high school. I have extremely thick hair and I hate when it looks fluffy and over-washed. I recommend ditching shampoo for anyone whose hair can handle the transition. After enough time, your oil production regulates itself naturally. If my hair is especially dirty from some outdoor activity, I’ll wash it with a little bit of castile soap. Otherwise, the only other products I use are Davines hair oil and Crew gel to style.

I love Glossier Boy Brow and Benefit Gimme Brow. They both have the perfect slight pigment and do a great job of taming my bushy brows. Other than that I use Glossier Balm Dotcom—I just ran out of my coconut one!—throughout the day to keep my lips soft. I top that off with a good dose of whatever perfume I’m loving—currently a rollerball of Gypsy Water by Byredo. I just ran out of my second tester of my favorite scent—Portrait of Lady by Frédéric Malle. I’m in no place to spend 300 dollars on a full bottle so I’ll occasionally go to their counter at Barney’s and schmooze for a sample.

My remaining beauty 'secrets' are about diet and exercise. I always start my day with a glass of water mixed with a whole squeezed lemon and a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. The benefits are great for your overall health and of course, your skin. I follow that with a smoothie that I add my prebiotic powders into. My current favorite smoothie ingredients are ice, spinach, mint, banana, almond butter, and unsweetened coconut yogurt and almond milk. I also drink lots of green tea and freshly juiced beet, apple, ginger and turmeric. For exercise, I take to running three to four miles in the hills of my neighborhood, or I'll hit the gym for strength building, hot Vinyasa yoga and more recently, the StairMaster. I find it to be the most engaging cardio that you can do at the gym and it’s also great for your butt."
