With blondes and brunettes taken care of, we're moving on to redheads—that glorious, enviable color—and how to care for it while shampooing. Concerns here include: color fading SUPER quickly. Or worse—going brassy beyond belief. Back when Lacey dyed her hair, she relied on a steady diet of (surprise, surprise) John Frieda Radiant Red. It deposits color similarly to Aveda's Madder Root Color Conditioner, but it's from the drugstore—and that's what we're talking about today. Then there's Giovanni Colorflage in Remarkably Red, which is organic and still under 10 bucks. It also pays attention to damage that might occur after a dye-job, with its “antioxidant-powered UV fade-resistant system.” It sounds fancy because it is. Antioxidants are not a joke.

But we're not afraid to say it—we've done very little on red hair here at ITG. So red heads around the world, unite! And tell us what you wash your hair with. We'll work on this together.

And wouldn't ya know, the drugstore has shampoo for blondes and brunettes, too! Photo by ITG.
