As I see it, there are the “cool girls' of the fashion world—Daria, Freja, Arizona, Abbey Lee, and then of course, Cat. They're not that into makeup (we asked); they cut their hair without asking their bookers; they embrace their under-eye bags; they're free, confident, and they probably don't care what you think. The wonderful thing is that most stylists, photographers, and editors book them to be themselves, rather than to be transformed. Ever seen Daria styled to not look like Daria? It's a little jarring. I prefer to see Daria in Celine. Or Daria in just about anything photographed by just about anyone. As long as she looks like Daria.

But the thing is, I don't like fashion for its reality. I'm here in search of entertainment—a lot of glamour sprinkled with a little escapism. So for me, Christmas came early in the form of this month's Vogue Russia. Featuring my personal favorite, Cat McNeil, definitely not looking like herself. There's glitter, strip-club lighting, stars, some leather, fishnets...many things Cat is decidedly not when you meet her in person. Love her, but this makes my heart literally sing.
