You may remember musician/artist Kish from her Top Shelf, freshly relocated from New York to her sunny new home in LA where she’s been busy working on her next album. And you may remember ITG’s fondness for Bumble and bumble Invisible Oil, which recently expanded into an entire line of hair products—now available in the form of Shampoo, Conditioner and a pre-styling-product Primer, which all contain the same six oils, UV filters, and unmistakable tropical scent as the best-selling serum, to take coarse and dry hair to shiny, smooth territory. (Or, if you’re dealing with a double process or another chemical treatment, these are for you, too; no sulfates and tons of moisturizing agents.) Seeing as though Kish literally studied texture in school—she was a textiles major at FIT—we asked her to try them out, make some art, have some fun, and report back to us with her findings:

“Since moving to LA, my hair’s been so fried because it’s been like 100 degrees every day, and wearing my hair out in an afro is not the best style to retain moisture. So, I’ve started to put it in knots and leave it like that for a couple of days just to help deep condition it. The knots prevent the whole thing from getting beat on by the sun all day long—plus it’s cool because it feels really ‘90s, like how Janet Jackson and Left Eye used to wear their hair. The Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil products were great help, seriously. First, I washed my hair with the shampoo, and conditioned. Then, I used the Oil and Primer while I was braiding and twisting my hair up, which made the process easier and my hair, shiny. You don’t want super dry-looking twists; they should be healthy and glossy. I was really happy with the conditioner especially—I literally used like a quarter of the bottle to detangle my hair in the shower and get all the knots out with a wide-tooth comb. I have…a lot of hair. [Laughs]”
