The season of the updo is upon us. You've got your proms, your weddings, those dresses with cool backs, and the toasty weather that leaves the nape of your neck drenched in sweat. (Sorry, but it's the inconvenient truth for ladies with anything longer than a bob.) Yes, again you must pull your long, hot hair off your shoulders and away from your face, toeing that almost impossible line between polished and "Oh I just threw it up like this in a cab while on the phone with the president, holding a baby, and rescuing a stray kitten." Never fear, the internet is a trove inspiration, be it with a braid, a heavy helping of hairspray, or a knot (a true art form), there is hope for you and your claustrophobic neck this warm and celebratory time of year. Huzzah!

I think that is Gemma Ward, not Sasha Pivovarova.

slide 26 -- please tell me more: who, what, and HOW to do that hair!

    • Isabel

      exactly what I was thinking!

    • Vivienne

they are really tight dutch braids (inside out french braids) turned into fishtail braids and then (probably) curled around a curling iron to get that twisty effect

  • Angela

HOW DO I DO 22? THOSE BRAIDS

    • Anna

i think you could get that affect if you french braid from your temples to behind your ears on both sides, braid the remaining hair loosely, and then haphazardly pin all three braids to the back of your head.

Dearest ITG Reader,

We're working on something new that's launching this fall and we want you to be the first to know.
