The Overnight Model Pimple Trick

Last week you read why not and how not to pop, pick, and poke, so...then what? Well, a dermatologist is your best—blah blah blah, but what do the models do? They're the ones that are relied upon, essentially paid to have bright, glowy skin, sans zits, pimps, and bumps. Suzanne Diaz is one such perpetually clear-skinned model, and while stopping by the office a few weeks ago she shared her overnight zit-be-gone trick. Watch and learn.

Can't we just skip the peroxide part though, since the drying lotion seems to do the trick :P

  • Ivy

Her skin is just gorgeous! I'm wondering though, what exactly is the purpose of using hydrogen peroxide prior to the mario badescu lotion? I mean, it seems a little...extreme? But hey, whatever helps us achieve that glowing skin!

    • Merrill

I believe it's being used to kill bacteria. Hydrogen peroxide kills bacteria due to its oxygen molecules-- the oxygen creates oxidation, which breaks down harmful bacteria. However, I believe that there have been recent studies that show hydrogen peroxide actually reduces healing by killing fibroblasts (the cells responsible for healing wounds), which causes cellular damage...

      • Addison Cain

I've read this somewhere too. I believe it's safe for fresh wounds or brand new pimples, but prolonged usage is probably a no go.

        • ihavenobones

You shouldn't use hydrogen peroxide on healing wounds, no. To clean wounds you should use water, soap, or if that's too much work you should use Bactine.

I've long killed pimples with HP. (I'm surprised this is a "beauty secret" because it sorta seems like a no-brainer when you realize what pimples are and then see HP in your cabinet.) You only use it ONCE though. No need to go back again and again.

      • ihavenobones

If you have a pimple that you absolutely need gone, it's not bad. It may reduce healing time but that kinda just means it dries up and kills everything at the site. For a wound? Use sparingly. For a pimple emergency? I'll live with it.

  • ZyGGy

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion is life. Period.

  • tera

cut a liquid Advil capsule in half and apply gel to spot. It's a fantastic anti-inflammatory.

  • Luciana Micaela

I didn't understand how she called the second product. What's it?

    • Anita Pun

Mario Badescu Drying Lotion - a little pricier than your average drugstore blemish product but it's AMAZING.

  • Luciana Micaela

    And my comment?

  • Cay

I am pretty sure that if Mario Badescu was still around (I don't think he is?), I'd marry him.

Provided marriage provided unlimited access to his products, which I would have to assume it would.

  • melissa

awesome!! cant wait to try this!!

  • Class Versus Sass

This product does not work for me. I read somewhere that the acne product that works for you depends on the type of pimples you get and I believe it. I get the red hard pimples on my cheek and the Mario Badescu buffering lotion works on those well. I think this is more for those shallow forehead pimples

    • Sara

THANK YOU! This product does absolutely nothing!! I bought it and was so disappointed!

      • Class Versus Sass

Right, try the buffering lotion by them combined with Bliss incredipeels. That's what I use

      • ihavenobones

The Drying Lotion is better for whiteheads. The Drying Cream is better for cysts and hormonal acne.

  • Mademoiselle nature

Have your tried Tea tree oil? currently using Dr Organic blemish stick and it works fab!

    • Emma Hager

Oh! We have that stuff at our house but I have never used it for a pimple! Thanks for the suggestion! :)

Oh, and happy Earth Day, Mademoiselle Nature.

      • Mademoiselle nature

        thank you :-)

    • Roberta Barros

      yes! it's amazing! totally works!

      • Mademoiselle nature

        true ! :-)

        • tu

Yes I discovered that very recently and it changed my life
Now my pimples go away very quickly
I don't look like a teenager in a skin of a woman of fourty years

    • Class Versus Sass

Yes this does work for me

  • Berry The Blue

That look so cool :D I'm not sure though if I can find this at he drugstore in the Czech republic :D

    • mel

Naw Mario Badescu isnt really even at drugstores in the states. Order online!

  • Kimmy

I love Eradi-Kate by Kate Sommerville, works better for me than Mario Badescu.

  • Jake

Does this apply to whiteheads as well? or Just regular red-bump closed comedone pimples?

  • Emma Hager

Thank you for this! I think this should be an ongoing video series called "Models on Zits." Like an in-depth, Discovery Channel-type series that documents the various pimples and pimple solutions models use during their hectic careers.

    • mel

yes pleeeease -say all the blemish prone teenagers across the world

    • Anne

Yes please! A run down of all the types of pimples and break outs and what helps for each type. I find that the ones that are painful and swollen are best remedied by acne patches but I have not found what helps best for other types such as whiteheads.

  • wilsonq

I swear by Kate Somerville's EradiKate, it's actually almost the same thing as the Mario Badescu one, but I just prefer Kate's brand, as she caters to a lot of acne-concerned skin. The EradiKate i find is not as drying as the other ones out on the market too (on some occasions i would even use it nightly), so you won't have the flakiness next day.

  • Frrancoise Loves Makeup

Love the idea but hard to do if you don't live alone : )

  • Emily

I have tried several different drying lotions and Bye Bye Blemish Drying Lotion seems to be the best!

  • Tajna

Much cheaper option: first use tea tree oil, then put on Aztec Secret facial mask overnight.Sucks the life out of any pimples!

  • Kat

I love that Drying Lotion... on its own its a miracle worker!

  • Brandy

Mario Badescu is my one, true love.
