A large sporting event is taking place on Sunday—Super Bowl XLVIII, for our non-American readership. It's for football, that thing we play over here in which the athletes look like Transformers and the halftime breaks feature Beyoncé. It almost seems like the spectators are more passionate than the players themselves—my boyfriend actually asked me if I was proud of him that 'his' team, which he had been dutifully foregoing all weekend plans to support (by watching their games on TV), had made it to the big game. I can't deny that the amount of nachos and beer consumed in the process was truly impressive.

I'm right on par with one of Nick's friends who once referred to a team as “that one in the blue costume'—not nearly knowledgeable enough about either contender, or the entire sport for that matter, to be fully invested. That's not to say that I don't enjoy the party aspect of a Super Bowl viewing/getting in the spirits/acting like a jock, even if just for a few hours.

I like the nice lady that Tommy Ton shot that one time's vibe of just pairing simple white Nike socks, complete with black swoosh, with an distinctly un-athletic sandal. Well, after having nothing handy besides a sweatband to push back my bangs before washing my face the other morning, I decided to embody that sock/sandal situation in beauty form. Ears were immediately warmed, and my hair was immediately Bardot-ed—it just made sense. Alas I had not the balls to wear it for the rest of the day, but it's the perfect, “Yay, organized sports!” touch for my Super Bowl ensemble, so I'll break it out again when the time comes. Still deciding on the swoosh eyeliner.
